Finally completed the Wrath of the Righteous secret ending, as a Lich - 10th-level spells are neat, as it turns out.
Never going through that again - nearly wore out the ‘kill all enemies’ button to skip fights because of how foregone a conclusion they were, as high-level pathfinder is kind of stinky
[the ending is worth the effort to do once, though]

The big issue with it, in my opinion, is that it disregards a lot of prior decisions. It doesn’t matter if you were previously on the angel route, demon route, aeon route or whatever. As soon as you unlock the secret ending, most of the flavour of the path that you were previously on is lost.
Aeon gets my vote as the best ending. The music alone should give you an idea of how poignant it is, though I advise against reading comments if you don’t want to be spoiled.

It’s not a bad idea, it’s just so very many levels of Far Out that I don’t think I have the mental gears to shift that high

I honestly really liked Angel. It might be the ‘vanilla’ path but Team Wardstone was cool* and it felt suitably Righteous. Azata was pretty disappointing to me. Trickster was good, but deffo not a “first run” path. The Secret Ending’s epilogue slides could have been better but that’s really true for all endings honestly.
*sad we couldn’t get Targona on the team. It felt like there should’ve been more mythic-exclusive party members, like Nurah for Trickster. Maybe that Gorumite for Demon.
ff12 might not be the best final fantasy. but i love and cherish it all the same
