Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

final fantasy 16 is looking to be a world-beating game for how incredibly dumb (positive) it is

There was a SB hunt train going, I am now less than 400 Centurio Seals from having my Wyvern

Got a few lucky A-rank spawns, got me wyvern.

There I am doing some levelling for the first time in like a week then remember “Oh yeah it’s Tuesday isn’t it?” when the shutdown warning comes. Now need to find another way to procrastinate going to bed.

Given in my notice at work.
After over a decade, I’m due to escape.

The cat is being mega cute, just laying on his back with his belly up

Give me a female squirtle you damned game!

So one of my contacts at work got moved to another department and replaced with another person - who is very nice, however they keep doing things like sending me an email to tell me that they’re going to send me another different email.

Touch the bellyfluff.

Now you are free…

What did you work as again?

Its a trap, don’t do that.

It’s always a trap

Unless it isn’t. It might not be, this time. There’s only one way to find out

nitpick: FF16 is a different game, Strangers of Paradise (which that clip is of) isn’t a numbered FF title.

but yes it is amazing

Always. A. Trap

(also, don’t touch a cat’s belly unless you know for sure they like it, its a sign of trust for them to show you it and its breaking that trust by touching it)

how does he do it

it’s the dumbest dialogue i have ever encountered and yet it works

There is a fine art to making something dumb in a good way

Having your main character be someone who skips the cutscenes for you is a big help

Because it is painfully sincere. It’s the story of, in Nomura’s words, an “angry man”.

Kratos by way of Final Fantasy.

I guess an actual peeve of mine are wow refugees who migrate to other games and instantly adopt it as their new personality but won’t shut up about how much better it is there while Blizzard continues to live rent free in their heads.

Elder Scrolls lore is so rich and deep and mysterious because of all these unreliable narrators, it really makes you think and wonder about what really happened and it makes the world feel alive :nerd:

yeah wait until you start reading into the metaphysics lore, it’s worse than WoW’s current fixation on cosmic stuff

I get being enthusiastic about comparing new thing to old thing but yes, this is very annoying very fast.

I actually quite like the TES metaphysics stuff but big reason for that is that is only ever sort of hinted at and on the edge of the games and its not the main driver of the plot.

More so when as someone who has been in the fandom long enough already, you know it’s the same thing here as well. The things that Blizzard gets :poop:ed on are endearing traits in another setting.

I agree, but then folks start reading too deep into it and think CHIM is based. But watch when I ask them to prove that CHIM actually exists.
