Now kind of wish there was a result to the ball where the Inquisitor can say “Orlais has failed miserably to protect itself, and I have dismantled two coups in a single night. The Inquisition will take command of Orlais’s forces.”
My Dalish really would become a tyrannical warlord, writing down an elven book of grudges every time she heard an Orlesian make a passing remark that wasn’t favourable of the elvhen
i went to the exalted marches after the ball and they’re still fighting the civil war because they don’t know it’s over
She’s like the personification of internalized racism, though.
Method acting the homebody nerd who’s confused and unsettled by the outside world and people behaving like people.
That’s why I had all four removed at once
Under general anaesthesia.
I like him
He’s an idiot
Sera is a child.
That’s really the core of her character: She’s a child who never grew up. She’s got a child’s cruelty, rather than an adults. She doesn’t really develop or change during your interactions with her to change that, you either do her lol xD random pranks and get her approval or you don’t, and don’t. The pranks are meant to bring ‘laughter’ to the Inquisiton but like…there’s other, better ways to do it, and you don’t really seem to be able to push her towards it.
She dislikes the Dalish and the reasons are a bit muddled: some of it might be internalised prejudice, some of it might be resentment of them not doing more to fix the alienages (and some buried reverence: believing that they could fix the alienages but choose not to - not sure that’s the case), and there’s a banter line which hints that she may have tried to join a dalish clan but was rejected, so she’s a bit sore on that note.
I like that she’s got some interesting views on the Dalish, they feel believable, but since it’s wrapped up in the shell of her other stuff (and her terrible hair) it’s not worth it.
But her childish attitude makes the romance a bit awkward and leans a bit close to “child soldier” mood. Kicking her out of the Inquisiton after she botches her personal quest feels right to me, and I choose to believe that doing so makes her actually reflect and grow as a person.
…she probably doesn’t.
On the note of Dragon Age stuff, I read the gryphon novel and the Tevinter Nights short story collection during my travels. They’re pretty okay. I liked the short stories for the most part, there was a lot of variation in characters with some returning faces and a lot of new ones. None of them will likely matter all that much for the upcoming game but one of them - the last one, titled Dread Wolf Take You - was good and might get mentions.
The anesthesia is starting to wear off and that means I’m gonna start popping painkillers like candy. At least the bleeding has stopped.
Survived day 1.
My nerves will be weaker on day 2 and then I’ll probably be good.
My other half said it was about a 20 minute walk home. It’s about 40, it’s 31 degrees, I’m in all black.
Kill me.
Yeah I think I locked myself out of a friendship route with her by refusing to get involved in them. I said she can do them on her own if she wanted but that I just wasn’t going to help.
I just find her attitude very frustrating in what is effectively a very serious and dangerous situation. I know I can send her away, and I think in my original playthrough I did because she was annoying me too much, but I want to keep her around to see if she develops.
She won’t just from the friendship route. I’ve not done the romance but I doubt she changes at all from that. What you see is basically what you get.
It’s Sylvanas LFR time… ffs
Managed to beat her first try, she’s actually not that bad now that people are geared up a fair bit
Okay so I confirm here formally that I do not like Sera.
Judgement is still out on the rest of the companions, but as I’m getting to know them here is my tier list:
S Tier - Varric, Dorian, Iron Bull
A Tier - Cassandra, Leliana
B Tier - Blackwall, Vivienne, Josephine
C Tier - Sera, Cullen
GUEST TIER LIST:
S Tier - Hawke
C Tier - Morrigan
Bear in mind I haven’t finished all of their stories yet, so rankings may change as I get to the end game.
Cullen’s been in every dragon age game so far and DAI might have been his ‘best’ appearance character/development wise.
But
I do wonder if his voice actor might have doomed the character to not appearing in DADWolf.
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/dragon-age-voice-actor-larps-40-minute-career-breakdown
decided that it would be a good idea to post a 40 minute video, in-character as Cullen , complaining about him and his voice actor being victimised by cancel culture.
oof that’s some heavy cringe
i like how i googled ‘cullen voice actor’ because i have no knowledge of the setting and the first reply, complete with google’s automatic blurb was the exact same information
On one hand, I like Cullen as a romance for mage characters.
On the other hand, frick Greg Ellis
Cullen as a character is cool and I enjoyed him in DA:O
But
It’s a shame his VA was a complete
Creepy
It’s the forbidden love vibe behind it when you romance him as a mage and the internal conflict that comes with it
you know i am weak for enemies to lovers
