This was really nice to see - there are still a lot of Shall We Say Ill-Advised mods in the world out there but hitting a high-profile one is nice to set the tone

Yeah, I’d expect it to be similar to reporting - with the plethora of mods being uploaded, it’s probably unfeasible to vet all of them, so once they get reported is when they can be looked at (ideally).

This also sets a precedent and tone for the future, so hopefully they will act similarly for any other bigoted mods as well.

(What’s also sadfunny is how some people started making bogus claims about how it’s just the Saudi Arabian version and the mod does nothing other than changing the locale or something, which has been disproven and yet the ‘rumour’ still proliferated through discussions. Saudi Arabian and other versions still have the Pride flags and stuff, and the mod didn’t do that anyway.)

I tried live chat.

The GM claimed they can’t update my account from the fake name because they can’t confirm the name is fake.

And in the latest “”“resolution”"" to my ticket, the GM seriously suggested creating a new account.

With a straight face. I’m not making it up.

Nice try, but I’m not going to pay extra $$$ for a new WoW license, nor re-grind everything I’ve collected on this one over the years.

Another reason to never resub, I guess.

So they don’t believe you that you’re the actual owner of the account. Basically.

This is so stupid. They could easily ask you to locate any physical copy of any Blizz game you have and read the game key that came with it to them. Then compare in the data base.
Or use bank statements to compare which name is being used to pay for the account?

There is so many ways to do this


Also this is really silly. Back when I moved my two first chars off of my brother’s account there was 0 human interaction needed. They just looked at the last name of the accounts being the same and said okay.

I originally created my account under a fictional name. That’s all.

And trying to change proved to be a byzantine headache, bashing heads with employees who are copying canned responses without even reading the ticket in full. I had to explain that, yes, it’s my account, and no, the name on it is not the name of an actually existing different person.

I offered to provide my legal ID and a photo of the debit card I used to pay for my sub, which clearly shows my name on it. I could have provided a serial number for my physical copy of vanilla WoW, if asked. (My account is that old.) But no. They want a name change document that doesn’t exist.

I mentioned having the same problem, mine is under a Yugioh character’s name since I made it when I was a kid and they wanted documents from me saying that I’ve changed my name from Maximillion Pegasus.

Maybe I should defeat them with Relinquished, Yuuuuugi-boooooooy
