Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

I’d love to make Aldrich not fight me.

I HATE fighting Aldrich. He is the pinnacle of what i hate about DS3 and the less time I have to deal with him, the better I’d feel.

So House of the Dragon isn’t bad. In fact it hearkens back to a lot of the stuff I liked about GoT before it went… certifiably down the drain, pulling the entire loo along with it.

I mean yeah, there was a scene that I had to fast forward through, but so did GoT.

What’s the gist, so I don’t have to open Twitter and view a video?

have you ever watched a rick and morty episode
your gun is voiced by morty and he is constantly talking

Or here’s some gameplay footage if you’d like

What’s your problem with him? I’ve seen people often complain about Aldrich and I can’t wrap my head around what’s giving people issues. Quirks of particular builds aside, the only problem I see is the arrow shower, but you can sprint away from it reliably as long as you’re not caught unawares.

I’ve not done in a while but I think jogging in circles makes him unable to do basically most of his things.
But the chars I’ve played are also made out of a list of things he’s weak to.

As a melee character I found sprinting up to him as fast as possible seems to work the best for me. Which is great because I generally fight bosses very aggressively. So gluing myself to him and slicing away makes it easy. The teleport actions are annoying though.
As a pure caster though, I can see how he would be annoying.

Not if you park your pyromancer in his face and then just fart out fire until dead.

I mean, I don’t like mage bosses anyway. I think they are BS in all Fromsoft games.

BUT.

My actual problem with Aldrich with where I have a deep seated hatred for him in particular is because he is the pinnacle of DS3 being a fanservice to DS1.

Just look at him, you are literally fighting Gwyndolin in O&S’s boss room and that bothers me so much.

So your problem isn’t as much with mechanics as it is with what the boss is?

That’s fair. I disagree, because I think it’s quite poetic in a way and fits into a theme of Ds3 being tired, which I think was by design. I do agree that sometimes the game indulges too much in being self-referential, solaire armor being one of the more egregious examples. But I remember your older posting about it, so I know that we disagree on how much and how often it is a problem.

Chaos bed vestige go brrr

hearing that amazon has apparently acquired EA fills me with existential dread

that being said bezos do be looking like solas

Pretty much yeah.

I mean, I don’t like mage bosses (as I have also said in previous posts) but no my actual hatred for Aldrich is because to me he is just the pinnacle of the game being just fan service.

Getting to Anor Londo in DS3 makes me often want to quit playing DS3 because by then, the fan service has been repeatedly poking me in the face but now it has just slapped me.

Its also gotten WORSE with the DS1 remaster just being DS1 with a lick of paint. I think the DS1 remaster should’ve rebuilt DS1 from the ground up using DS3’s graphics (and maybe even just lifing Anor Londo from 3) and DS3’s controls.

EDIT: I know they outsourced the remaster.

I guess you have a more cynical look at it than me, which, don’t get me wrong, is understandable and not unwarranted. Personal take, but as I’ve been replaying it multiple times I gave the devs the benefit of the doubt and I view it as an intentionally tired installment. It’s all rotten and crumbling and it wants the characters and the fans to just let it go. Blatant fanservice aside, I think it’s repetitive by design and I grew to appreciate it in a new light.
I get it if it’s not to your liking though.

Is a lazy hack job and an absolute stain on From’s library. Especially unforgivable with Demon souls remaster existing. I only bought it on switch so that I could have it on the move.

I bought it because for a time I couldn’t get PTD to work and having it (trash as it is) was better than not having a DS1 at all.

I’m still going to meme on it mind.

Also like; Why didn’t those who had PTD get it for free like we did with Skyrim?!

We did get a 50% discount on it, which ended at some point this year I believe. The reason? Money, same as always. It’s like I stone towards Namco’s garden, more than From’s.

Todd doesn’t need to demand money for skyrim update because he know he’ll make enough with 700 rereleases skyrim gets every other year.

I know, I got it in that period.

Still BS though.

Even though I play the remaster more than I play PTD these days because I can play it offline.

A quick Google suggests that’s just a rumour, one that’s been refuted?

I dunno, I trust nothing these days

And it had what is, in my opinion, the best Souls boss ever.

You know the one.

Hand it over. That thing. Your Dark Soul…

There was no better way to end the Dark Souls series than having two nobodies fight over nothing in the middle of nowhere.

Sorry! Don’t worry, you don’t “need” to play it though. It really is just “Meanwhile, from Yuffie’s PoV.”

“But Gael knew he was no champion. He knew the Dark Soul would likely ruin him, and that he had little hope of a safe return.”

Prepare to Cry :frowning:
