Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

Bought Warhammer 3 finally. Really enjoying the prologue, they should do more of this kind of thing.

See, this I would debate. Because it’s not really ‘another world’; it’s just the other part of the same world, really.

But yeah, the Matrix does actually fit the whole ‘immersed in a game/computer’ side of that, so, valid.

Isekai is my favourite genre of anime and I make no apologies.

Overlord, Konosuba, In the Land of Leadale, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Rising of the Shield Hero, Skeleton Knight in Another World, Log Horizon, the first arc of Sword Art Online, Digimon, Drifters.

There are loads of terrible ones too, many of which have really weird / gross fan-service themes, but every genre of every media has its heap of poo poo.

Reminds me, I really need to catch up with Slime. That and Overlord were my favourites for sure, and managed to avoid the more ‘ick’ tropes.

Also, I have a soft spot for ‘What if the so-called monsters were all characters, and nice, actually? Give them a win, too’.

The Guardians of Nazarick are pretty nice too

Isekai is just the Western movies of Anime. A lot of them, very few good ones in-between. Can’t help watching it, it’s very much like fast-food… Although even I can’t bear it sometimes.

On another peeve : Parents shopping for their kids’ school year at the last dang moment.

You really do if haven’t caught the Walpurgis arc yet. Imo one of the best parts of Slime so far right there and it feels like the stakes have been ypped massively after.

Isekai is a very bloated genre at the moment, but I have a soft-spot for most of them, even the ones that don’t really do anything groundbreaking. I love the MC of Leadale and its tone for example, it’s really fun to watch.

yeah okay this one i like too, a friend got me into it.

In the Land of Leadale follows the trope of the main character being dunked into their favourite MMO but it also transpires that quite a few other players got trapped in there too – she just happens to be one of the elite players of the MMO itself, so she’s especially OP. She frequently has heated gamer moments but without any slurs and I enjoy it greatly.

I feel like most isekai hinge on a gimmic that deflates after the first 2 episodes. I find them pretty boring and formulaic, with konosuba being the exception.

You may not apologies for it but I’m still judgmental. (Mostly because I have at least two friends with similar tastes.)

The pool of anime I’ve watched is relatively small over the years and a few of them have been isekais. Kill la Kill, One Punch Man, JoJo, Overlord, Time i was reincarnated as a slime, konosuba. Also watched Dragon Maid… for the plot. Elmas very deep plot. Recently finished my hero acadameia. Watched a bit of Yeah im a Spider so what but the animation was not the best. Friend of mine keeps recommending Youjo Senkai…

Chainsaw Man is without a doubt looking to be the best upcoming anime of 2023.

The Overlord light novels are a masterpiece. They are an insanely enjoyable read with great attention to detail. The anime on the other hand does a decent enough job, but if it had 24 episode seasons it’d do a much better job at illustrating the world, even giving you explanations on the guild members of Ains Ooal Gown that Momonga is looking for.

Holy crap, I completely forgot about Escaflowne.

Probably the only Isekai I’ve ever watched and the reason I got into tarot cards.

Also clipped the back of my ankle with my chair again and it drew blood

Me replying to someone on twitter:
Your tweet is attracting all the terfs and transphobes, damn. I hope terfy stuff dies out soon.

Twitter: BANNED. BANNED. BANNED!!! YOU’RE INCITING HATE!!!

What was you replying to? people claim phobia over ridiculous stuff now, people cant even have a different opinion on nuanced/niche subjects without being branded a phobe like its some kinda weapon to batter against anyone who disagrees on one particular thing, loses its meaning when its abused like that.
