Pet peeves: The return (Part 3)

And then engaging in an arm’s war against those very same users of said third parties who have always got a leg up over Blizzard for their skills in Mathemagic, the time and now the staff to decrypt and precisely break the code of their most difficult scripted fights to a T. An unwinnable battle that leaves everyone despising the other side.

Now want a Divinity playthrough with one of each race (all custom characters).

So; one human, one dwarf, one lizard and one elf with one of them being undead.

And then just recruit 2 of the origin characters to make a party of 6.

Now to decide what builds to synergise and why is it earth, wind & fire?

Extremely relevant.

NGL, I rearranged the words because Telaryn posted that video a few posts ago.

(I otherwise would’ve sais Fire, Earth and Wind because that’s sort of the synergise order in the game)

Between reading and replying, I failed to notice because I’m actually not awake. Back to bed I go.

Wanting to find some old WoW friends though being unsure if they even play the characters you once knew them as. Or if making a post asking after them using said names would be against the forums rules.

Unless you’re shaming people for having RP’d with you, you should be fine.

I just want a moment to complain about LEDs in everything “gamer” related.

Its a bother and worst case it can rarely if ever be turned off.
my pc game controller has a bright stripe of rainbow light that shines right up into your eyes, which is really distraction in the late evenings, can I turn it off? nope.
My desktop has a semi bright light that constantly shines even when it is turned off, can that be removed? the time it would take to extract it is not equal the worth of the work, so work around is covering it in cloth to block the light when I need to sleep.
the list of LED peeves continue endlessly
Why is it a trend and when will it stop?

that time of year again

Re-reading Order of the Stick, I find that Don’t Split the Party works a lot better as a book than it did as a part of an ongoing webcomic.

OOTS: Don't Split the Party spoilers

I followed it when it was ongoing, and boy, did it just seem depressing at that time.

It’s certainly the most depressing and least comedic OOTS book, but at least when it’s a book, you can see how much of it you have already read, and it works well as a compiled story of how the Order got back together and had some important character development along the way.

But when it was ongoing, I remember thinking, “can we get back to the comedy adventures and saving the world, please”. The “Roy in the afterlife” arc felt like it dragged on forever. The entire story, back then, felt frustrating to read because of how it felt like the universe conspired to keep Roy from being resurrected, and how the Order (plus Celia) just kept digging themselves deeper and deeper into the mess they brought upon themselves.

By the point Vaarsuvius disintegrated Kubota — an event for which the author intent was to show how far V had fallen and deteriorated, which was important for their character arc for which the wacky hijinks of Team Casters was only the background — I remember cheering that this B-villain hogging the spotlight was disposed of, and agreeing with V’s assessment. “Now can we go back to saving the world?”

As a finished book, it certainly reads better, and the pacing doesn’t feel off. But it still feels frustrating how many circumstances conspire to prevent the Order from being reunited sooner, for which the stated Doylist reason was to force their personal development in Roy’s absence.

If only just one of these hadn’t happened…

— if Belkar hadn’t killed the Oracle;
— if Team Haley hadn’t eaten V’s messenger birds, or V had thought to attach a regular written note to them (but then, V’s stubborn faith in the power of magic over all other considerations was the whole point);
— if Celia hadn’t suddenly changed her alignment from Lawful Good to Stupid Good and assumed she knew better than Haley.

Admittedly, if the Order had reunited sooner, it would have also not led to some unintended positive developments, such as Belkar and V being humbled, the Azurites finding refuge, O-Chul’s rescue, and delaying Xykon by making him search for his phylactery.

But still, some of these feel frustratingly contrived, even now.

my favourite sea shanty is one from a book so theres sadly never been an official one sung, but there was a fan cover that to me just seems right

I do enjoy sea shanties (they are excellent LARP songs to sing around a fire) but space shanties are something special.

We All Lift Together and Sleeping In The Cold Below from Warframe are so beautiful
