The true Dagoth Ur Dating Sim experience is walking halfway across the map, several dozen cliff racers bothering you every 5 steps, only to then realise you forgot to talk to the NPC you needed to talk to before leaving.
God I love this game

The Poppy War and its sequels.
They changed that to be permanent now?
Used to be able to walk around it the day before Darkmoon Faire was up again if you logged out there previous.
I assume so?
Fair doesnât start until Sunday and I scooted around there on my DK
Iron Widow
âIron Widow is a 2021 Canadian YA science fantasy novel by Xiran Jay Zhao. The novel is a mecha reimagining of the rise of the Chinese Empress Wu Zetian set in the nation of Huaxia, a futuristic reinterpretation of Medieval China.â
(but I know you donât listen to me anyway)
Ah, yeah, its been like that for a while, leave your DK there and see if you donât get teleported out in the middle of the month?
Will do
For science
I listen to you but the closest I like my fantasy to modern in terms of science is the industrial revolution era
Futuristic mecha scifi fantasy is maybe not my cup of tea
Okay. Have you read the Orcs series by Stan Nicolls?
What about Wicked (and its follow up 3 books) by Gregory Maguire?
Garth Nix and the Abhorsen series?
I second the Abhorsen Series, the audiobooks are read by Tim Curry.
Abhorsen is solid.
Bartimaeus series also good.
Give me a page 99 test on these
come again?
Also shout out to Chris Wooding with Haunting of Alaizabel Cray (AKA This is the 2nd copy of the book I have and I have already dented the spine) which is set in Victorian London but still a fantastic read.
Also, Phillip Pullman? I have multiple of his books including his more famous âHis Dark Materialsâ Trilogy, but I also have the one that starts with Ruby in the Smoke and a few of his one hits like Count Karlstein
EDIT: My other suggestions are fantasy but a lot are more modernized with fantastical elements and others go towards straight up horror
EDIT2: Never read Chris Woodingâs Broken Sky series, maybe thatâs what I should get next after Iâve finished with Zachery Ying, Manhunt and HP Lovecraft.
You test a book by opening it on page 99 and giving it a read
oh, I can do that. Let me put shopping away and then Iâll send you snaps on discord (I donât knw where Orcs has disappeared to now but I can do the others)
Give me a page 99 test on these
Page 99 (okay, 98) of The Poppy War has the protagonist proposing a war crime.
The Poppy War stars war orphan Rin, set against the backdrop of Not!China still recovering from a war against Not!Japan. Raised by opiate smugglers, she fights tooth and nail to attend the most prestigious military academy in the Empire. She comes under the tutelage of one of the professors - the Lore instructor (yes, really) - who guides her in the use of drug-fuelled shamanism to unlock the powers of the gods, which are kind of important when Not!Japan launches another campaign against their shores.
Thatâs not a spoiler, since thatâs just rewritten blurb.
whereâs the war crime?
