I hate Margit, from an encounter design perspective.

He just has so many combos, so many counters to every damn thing you do, infinite stamina, delayed attacks, super fast attacks, ranged attacks. And this is the first story/mandatory boss?!

I hate him, and Iām very annoyed with the Elden Ring design mindset of āOk, veteran sould players, lets see you be so smart about THIS!ā which happens to throw non-experts under the bus entirely. āGit gudā does NOT work when your bosses keep pulling brand new combos out of their backsides a dozen+ run through later!!

Nah Margit is great as a first boss story boss I think. While he has a good variety of moves theyāre generally pretty decently telegraphed, incentivising you to learn them to avoid them. Itās a harsh tutorial, but itās still a tutorial.
I know Cleric Beast is technically the first one in bloodborne but Gascoigne is who I treat as the first emotionally, and heās similar in tutorial feeling.
