that’s what i’m bemoaning yes

From the companions I got unlocked, I initially wanted to romance Amiri or Linzi before I realised I couldn’t.

Atm I’ve not really gone for anyone. I was curious about Ocatvia but I really dislike Regonar as a character. His possessiveness feels borderline stalkerish/controlling over Ocatvia and he seems very unpleasant as a person too.

I might just go Tristan or the tiefling.

Kingmaker romance companions are:

[secret]
Valerie (straight lady)
Octavia (bi lady) and/or Regongar (disaster)
Tristian (straight dude)
Kalikke and/or Kanerah (bi ladies)

From what I’ve heard/seen, the Wrath companions and romances seem alot more interesting. So I am looking forward to trying that!

Kingmaker seems pretty “vanilla” for a fantasy game.

Yeah - though having explicitly polyamorous characters is pretty groundbreaking, it is a lot more safe with it being their first game.

Wrath has a few more options: Camelia and Lann are straight, Sosiel is gay, then Wenduag, Arushalae, Daeran, Ulbrig and Galfrey are all romanceable by anyone.

There’s also a mod for a Woljif romance, which I have not played but did have a lot of work put in there

If Kingmaker had been released after WotR I 100% believe they would’ve made Tristian bi instead of straight.

Now if only the modders would release the Targona romance for WotR…

I’ve played it, it’s pretty good, though since I’m in my 30s and Woljif is written to be like…barely an adult, if an adult at all, it felt a bit like cradle-robbing.

I know the age of the KC isn’t ever specified but definitely felt like they weren’t written to be barely-of-age as an adult, so a Woljif romance gave me problematic age-gap vibes.

Its cool honestly. I just wish one of them was less unpleasant as a character.

The only main thing the pathfinder games are missing (that I provided as feedback when they asked) are the triggers in Pillars of Eternity, Dragon Age and I’m sure others - where companions will get together if you don’t choose to romance them.

Xoti/Maia is an ADORABLE couple oh my goodness

Woljif is a tiefer-thief character’s little brother in spirit.

It’s not a romance, but the corrupted Arue/Greybor/Woljif “friendship” ending slide is pretty great.

Summary

They team up to basically rule Alushinyrra, destroying the opposition. All the demons sit and bide their time waiting for one of the trio to turn on the others, but it never happens - they just keep bring evil bros together.

Back in Baldur’s Gate 2, if you hadn’t locked in a romance with Aerie and had Haer’dalis in the party they would start dating but she eventually breaks up with him because he’s a big fake-nihilism weirdo who revels in death and she’s super weirded out by him. It’s a great character moment for her really, but unfortunately you need to keep Haer’dalis around for it because camp-character progression wouldn’t be invented for another 9 years.

Yeah he definitely gives lil bro vibes.
