More “how not to do it” UI design courtesy of Tumblr:
When I try to log in, it prompts me to change my password because it’s too old or something.
Except instead of doing the sane thing that all other apps do, and presenting an “old password, new password, confirm new password” form, Tumblr redirects me to the “forgot password” form so that it can mail me a password change link.
I haven’t forgot my password, it’s right there!
The problem is that I haven’t logged in to Tumblr for ages before they added this forced login cancer. My account was registered to a custom domain email that I’ve long since stopped using, and allowed the domain to lapse.
So despite knowing the password to my account, I can’t log in because I need to change my password first, but to change my password I need to change my email first, but to change my email I need to login first.
Thank you for creating a problem where none needed to exist, Tumblr.
