Pet peeves: The return (Part 4)

Pet Peeve: Not enough witch hats.
Get on it, blizzard!

Your Vulpera looks lovely. <3

I agree. I much preferred the mysterious but seemingly benevolent ME1 Protheans (Vigil’s voice still gives me goosebumps) to the overexplained, bug-headed, comic-book-science ME3 Protheans.

Then again, ME1 itself was orders-of-magnitude better written than ME3, so that’s only fair.

It just felt needlessly cynical. I entirely empathised with Liara, in a “This is bull :poop:…” way.
‘Oh, actually these precursors were imperialistic and a bit mean, haha, guess actually all society finds Being Nasty normal, amirite guys?’ Yeah, yeah, get lost fivehead…

Massively prefered the thought the Reapers were things so ancient, their reasoning so long-term and alien, that it genuinely was hard to understand.

I think the star kid definitely made me struggle to understand it all

Welp, I finally find time to play Diablo IV, and it’s down.

But you philistines don’t understand! You have to play online because… uh… it helps us sell more copies… and it shows all those other players in cities for you to ignore!

I will also toss in my two cents. Right now it’s difficult to filter what is true and what isn’t - we have little to no idea of what is actually going on. But a few notes have to be said nonetheless.

This entire scenario proves that the Fire Nation state has massive problems.

  1. The leader of the opposition has, in about one year and a half, created a military battalion which is now a small army - from a thousand or so, now it counts ten of thousands. This shows not the strength of the state, but its weakness, who needed a third party to perform its military function/defensive function.

  2. There is then another fact, which is that the leader of the opposition is meeting, well, little opposition in its advance. This shows, again, that the central power does not have such a strong hold on local powers anymore, who instead let the opposition basically move freely (while this is good news, it may also be that the opposition is being helped by the secret services, which so far have often been the power behind the throne in the Fire Nation)

Points 1. and 2. are difficult to decipher further because the whole situation is confused and unclear. But one thing is clear: the Fire Lord’s politic did not pay. Here is why:

  • The Fire Lord’s army was supposed to take Basin Se in a week, instead it is currently stuck and under siege by the Earth Kingdom.
  • Previously neutral neighbors have taken a resolute stance against the Fire Nation and seek to join the other powers which already oppose it.
  • The Fire Nation is turning into a junior economic partner of the bigger dictatorship, the Lava Empire. It remains to be seen where this plot thread will lead in the future.
  • Lastly, Ozai has succeeded in harming his country in ways that his enemies couldn’t do in decades. The Fire Nation now stands weakened economically, militarily, etc., from all points of view.

My hope goes to the Earth Nation, which is definitely going to take advantage, for now, of the Fire Nation’s weakness.

This course of action is giving further credit to the idea that the Fire Nation’s imperialism was an anachronistic dream.

You’re answering a question that was asked. So write away.

What day is it?

Suletta Sunday

Kinda funny that permet is basically ‘training wheels’ mode for pilloting, even in basic suits that aren’t gundams. Reminds me a bit of the MS from SEED where they had to program an entire new operating system to let naturals pilot them.

It’s still a shame that the Schwarzette went to Lauda because it is such a cool suit. Can’t wait for my kit. Hilarious that Dilanza took another L though. Has it got a single win?

Ericht confirming her position as antagonist gundam by kicking Suletta. Turns out she was the mask-wearing char-clone all along.

Notrette still inside Quiet Zero after all, so confirmation of why Delling was going along with Prospera. It was expected/suspected but still cool to see confirmation. And that she really did/does love Miorine.

LMAO GUEL DEATH FLAG SUBVERTED FELSI SAVES THE DAY
They even had Guel push Lauda away like Sergei did to his kid in 00. They knew what they were doing. Lol, lmao.

Miorine gets to show off that she’s also super cool! Between everything that’s happened it’s easy to forget that she’s like…a super big brain lady (lots of intelligence, not much experience). I think it’s pretty funny that she’s a mirror of El0n (who they keep cutting to??) in that regard: They’re basically born as the ‘perfect’ CEOs, they just can’t pilot at all.

Also contrasting the “love all your daughters equally” with “all of us will be a family”. Morine would become one of those daughters. Soft-locked Prospera into not killing her. Game successfully exploited.

I knew Ericht was probably going to die due to how Aerial is in the Tempest, but wasn’t expecting it this episode. The moment they showed the colony laser I did expect them to do an Ericht-blocks-it a la Unicorn though.

No big crested goth xenomorph queen gf.

Why even live.

Also, as I catch up with the thread: ME3 is underrated and Javik was an absolute chad.

“They used to eat flies.”

I think they at least have someone working the reception so I can call them whenever I want (while they’re open), it’s the Calling part that’s problematic.

we’re a digital country who even uses phones any more?!?

Adding a Prothean at all was a creative mistake.

Adding one as Day 1 Paid DLC to a full price AAA game means someone should have been taken out behind the shed for a damn good shoe-ing.

reminded when I stayed up all night to make the appointment in the morning.

I forgot to mention: anyone who disagrees with me is automatically a virgin.

Javik being DLC sucked and was extremely stupid*, but I don’t necessarily agree with the Protheans not being everything Liara thought was a ‘mistake’, and I personally think they handled it pretty well, especially tying it into Liara’s time capsule to the future.

Protheans being a utopian society that got culled by the Reapers in their prime is a tragedy, and that’s definitely a fine choice for a story, but the one they went with in ME3 is also good.

*Mass Effect’s DLCs have never been ideally implemented honestly. Except maybe ME1’s. I guess that’s not such an issue these days with the combo remaster though.

Javik being DLC was bad, because Javik should be for everyone.

I had to contact a place once for an appointment thing.

Their phone hours were literally Monday-Thursday 7.30-8.30 and didn’t accept messages.
