Pet peeves: The return (Part 4)

Or just :pirate_flag:

An option too, but steam nowadays is less of a hassle than pirating, unless you have no intention to pay at all.

Generally minimum requirements can be interpreted as ‘minimum specs to have an enjoyable time’. My PC was like, mid-range from 2017 (gtx 970, i5-6600 or 6400 one of the two) and it hasn’t blown up yet.

Game for the most part is not a slideshow, though some areas especially as you get into later parts of the game start running a little worse. I do think my enjoyment would be a lot better if I had a better PC, but it’s still very much so playable. Funnily enough, the game decided I should have Ultra settings. (hmm maybe I should change that to improve my performance…)

Does the 2 hour timer start upon buying the game or after downloading it? I don’t think you’ll have an idea of whether your PC runs it or not in 2 hours, since you’re mostly only getting through the tutorial area, which is already the smoothest it can be thanks to EA.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s two hours of gameplay or 48 hours since you’ve bought it. I could be wrong though.

2 hours of gameplay or two weeks of owning the game in your steam library!

Good to know I’m not the only one gaming with prehistoric hardware. :stuck_out_tongue:

Having had a look at what’s actually inside the belly of the beast, I have a GTX1660 and i7-4790. Which as I said does meet the minimum requirements, but aren’t quite the advised specs either. We’ll see, I might go with Hethes’ suggestion tonight just for the heck of it!

Within 14 days of purchase, provided playtime hasn’t exceeded 2 hours before then. That’s what I found anyway.

Edit: Dekarn beat me to it!

Yeah I have no idea how good the CPU is, but I think GPU wise you should be OK when my GPU is managing. Maybe having good memory is also great, or if you can install the game on a SSD.

my gear isn’t even prehistoric and yet it still crashes from time to time. feels bad

What is your memory usage? I have only had one actual crash so far. Maybe the game has problems with how much memory is available or smth.

(Maybe tangentially related, but if you use Chrome is it updated? I think I had Chrome use up too much memory in the past somehow so my Civ 6 games randomly started crashing for no reason. Might be same but with BG3 for you?)

I switched over to firefox a while ago because of Chrome’s poor memory usage. I would like if the game could give me some kind of error that indicates what’s causing the crash, but alas.

sort of want Baldur’s Gate 3, but that’s 50 quid.

EDIT: Also halfway through the D4 battle pass and 60 out of 85 ranks through the DBD one and I want to get both done.

Yeah she can have it tbh.

Once I do decide to play BG3 myself, I have no qualms about admitting I will do it again:

In a world of elves, magic, dragons and ancient evil gods and liches
playing guy with sword is a simple yet enjoyable thing.

Consider how many odd classes and outlandish imaginary critters are covered by party members in most such rpgs. It’s also rarely wrong to be tanky in this context.

Speaking of which; kingmaker companion tiers? I’m curious of opinions.

totally not biased regongar > all

(octavia, jubilost S tier, valerie and harrim, maybe amiri B tier, rest A tier afaik)

Talking rats make games great.
