Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

Tier 3 plate boots.

Which is fine on THIS character, cos the tier 3 alliance plate boots look bad on female models (But I had to wait to get the gloves, which are the opposite, and good LORD that took forever) but… I DO want them on my Orc Warrior.

And I have barely any of the Cloth, Leather or Mail stuff… uuugh.

New Peeve; trying to do the Dreamsurge intro stuff.
“Do Worldquests!”
Ok, how do I do them then?
“You need to have finished the Main Questline!”

-Knuckles forehead-
Why. Are you showing me stuff. I CANNOT. Complete yet? WHY. Is your phasing. All. Over. The. Damn. Place?!

Peeve: Battle.net logs me out every time I turn my VPN on and off.

Well yeah, is that not the point of the VPN?

I assume it also messes up with Blizzard’s own things since didn’t they have this anti-scam measure where it looks at where you’re logging in from? So when you log in from a different place (or country) it’ll think it’s a compromised account.

Warden, wasn’t it? Didn’t they get in some trouble for it?

Very true but I enjoyed this one because it was nice to feel part of something - that although I may be physically alone in my basement, mentally I am part of a vast brotherhood of men all also pondering the glories of Rome

It was quite the “My names Ken; and so is mine” moment

You and Elon make quite the pair.

Just realised that the night elf heritage quest siblings are the Starshade family

you’ll be hearing from my lawyers, bobby

(also immensely funny that the questline that’s a good example of Starshade’s Law has a family accidentally named after it)

derma roller + rosemary oil or minoxidil

TFW when have to play on WRA US for Horde RP.

That’s a rough moment.

Battlenet doesn’t like VPNs. It’s actually prone to mininterpret what’s going on and lock your account for being “hacked”.

It’s canon now.

Played a bit more of kingdom come.
I have obtained a dog, became a cop, got my skull caved in, beat a noble in an archery competition, got drunk and robbed a bath house, broke into several houses and ate stew out of the pot in each, ate rotten meat and got food poisoning, fell off a horse three times, got patched up in aforementioned bath house, dug up a grave, killed a brigand and left his body in an inn yard and slept with pigs.

Jesus best bless these wicked hands, cuz they’ve got a mind of their own.

“How much Mithril do you need for levelling Classic Engineering?”
“Yes”

It’s weird how one of the most satisfying casual things I find is just… blatting through old proffession stuff? I’ve never managed to level an engineer, so sitting and working through that with my Mag’har is oddly satisfying.
I know so much of it is kinda superflous these days, but mogs and mounts, yo.

So apparently one part of the Star Wars fandom loves The Last Jedi for being daring and unconventional, while another passionately hates it for the same reason.

While here I am, shrugging. I barely remember it, it just didn’t make much of an impression. I remember Luke being an :peach: to Rey, dying at the end, an admiral with purple hair who sacrificed herself, Leia surviving in space because I guess the Force can do that now, Kylo pulling a Klingon Promotion on Snoke, and also… there was something about a casino?

I remember bits and pieces, but I remember only a vague outline of the overall plot, and the movie just doesn’t gel together into a cohesive whole for me. It didn’t leave much of an impression. It might as well not exist, just like the entire sequel trilogy. Some people swear by TLJ, others swear by hating it, I’m just indifferent.

(In contrast, another Star Wars story often lauded as a bold deconstruction, KOTOR 2, did leave a lasting impression, and I’m firmly in the “loving it” camp. The difference is that the characters are actually well-thought-out instead of being “insert your own motivation here” blanks, it does genuinely new things with the setting that nonetheless fit the overall design, and despite the bleak and cynical tone, it still feels like Star Wars.)

My main issue with the sequel trilogy is it 100% feels like they did NOT have a coherent plan and plot going into it. As such, so many of the twists and turns (derogatory) feel like knee jerk reactions to public perception.

If you have a moment of “They figured out a twist early!” and your immediate reaction is to throw it in the bin and wing something entirely different, then you are weak and lacking in comitment. Own your creations! People seem to love hating on Avatar and Avatar 2, but James Cameron had a vision and a story he wanted to tell, and he stuck to it. Are they some groundbreaking new chapter in story telling? Heck no! Are they rock solid and enjoyable on their own merits, regardless of being ‘basic’? Heck yes, in my opinion. You can tell they had a blast making those films, and they make for some gorgeous viewing.

Star Wars is irritating because they have shown they can Do Good; Mando seasons 1-2 (not seen 3 yet), Rogue One, from the sounds of it Andor is really good. Then they have wobbles like Book of Boba, which wasn’t bad but it just… it didn’t have a solid direction, imo? It was disappointing not due to being bad, but due to not being as great as it could have been.
Personally, I liked Force Awakens (New Trilogy #1). Did it break super exciting new ground? Nope. Was it still solid enough and enjoyable to watch? Again imo, but yes.

The other two were a mess. People can argue back and forth about themes and subversion and w/e, but to me they just were not coherent storytelling and Not Fun to watch.
Also ‘Somehow, Palpatine has returned’ is on par with ‘And they woke up and it was just a dream’. -1/10, get in the bin, may god have mercy on your soul.
