Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

the alternate universe where Reforged wasn’t a rushed hatchet job and we could get lore-updated First and Second War campaign modules T_T

I think playing that sorta game when it’s fresh+new is a big factor.

I can very easily go back and play Baldur’s Gate 1, despite it being extremely dated, but I bounced so hard off Fallout 1+2 which were the same sort of era/time. I played BG1 when it was new, I didn’t touch the Fallout series at all (due to not knowing about it) until Fallout 3 came out, and didn’t try out FO1/2 for many years after that.

Never forget what they took from us.

Apparently a pronoun mod for Starfield actually removed he/him and she/her and left everyone they/them instead…
But the snowflakes don’t read that far.

Every time I go back to BG2 and try to play it I instantly remember Loser McWifecloning’s entire conversation/speech at the start and suffer temporal psychic damage.

Except it’s not a sitcom gag but a very real traumatic ongoing experience for 20 years straight.

Also, the forum update took away my ability to post youtube stuff. Peeve!

So I’m usually against rampant consumerism. I only replace or upgrade my tech when it breaks down or is no longer compatible with new components or software.

I broke my phone last Tuesday, a phone that was with me through thick and thin, throughout all my many travels over the past two years, and got me out of Russia over a month ago.

I wasn’t sure it was possible to repair, so I ordered a new one. It turned out that the old one was possible to repair, and in fact only the screen needed to be replaced. No data was lost. I got it back today, repaired. It’s a 2020 model and can easily serve me for a few more years, so I have no need to replace it.

But since I have a new phone now, I’m going to use it as my primary phone now, and the old one as a spare, with a backup SIM card. But I still feel guilty towards it for abandoning it for daily use, and feel rather bad about myself for having too little faith that it would be repaired in reasonable time.

I know this sounds like first world problems, but still. I get easily emotionally attached to my inanimate possessions.

Ah, the child of Bhaal has awoken. It is time for more…experiments.
The pain will only be passing; you should survive the process.
Interesting. You have much untapped power.
Do you even realise your potential?

They act sooner than we had anticipated. No matter, they will only prove a slight delay.

My mind’s like; hurr, gonna do that anyway as well as tell you not to let her walk out of that door.

Never quiet, just never quiet.

Also my antlers are haunted, every time i mess with the hanger they’re on, they decide to just ping off.

Need a better pair of antlers in general, these are pretty delicate and I actually want them to be bone coloured as opposed to stark white

You’d think people would be all over shin guards with skeleton patterns on them.

I just want a pair with skele feet on them to put over my boots, is that too much to ask?

I decided to read Pathfinder’s War for the Crown adventure in case I wanted to run it, and one of the dialogue lines is:

Please, have an estate.

It’s not a typo either, that is the intended dialogue of giving the party the gift of a house.

Don’t mind if I do

You’re not alone in that, I have it to some degree too, though that was mostly with my first car, a VW Polo from 1999. It had 50hp under the hood, so it wasn’t particularly fast or anything ( though I did own my cousin’s girlfriend’s Fiat Punto with it three times during a dragrace, and they got the same amount of horses under the hood and similar weight) but it was well-maintained and barely had any kilometers on it, so it was still pretty new. It used to belong to my grandparents, but since my grandma didn’t drive herself, after grandpa died it stood mostly in a garage.

Then I got it and honestly, it served me well, got me everywhere I needed to be, and I made use of it daily. I even made trips of near 200km in a day with it, and that little Polo managed without breaking a sweat.

However, still living at home, at times my dad used the car to go to work when I didn’t need mine and it saved him the hassle of first having to move my car before getting his own out of the garage. And sadly during winter, on a day where the roads were very slippery and many people in my region slipped off the road, so did my dad. Dad was thankfully fine, but the Polo was a total loss, seeing as reparing it would cost more than it was still worth.

And I felt pretty sad that it was wrecked, cause not only had she carried me everywhere faithfully, but it was also still a small tie with my departed grandparents, also for others of my family.

So yeah, I can get the feeling of getting attached to seemingly inanimate posessions.

Funny how all my motivation to Do Stuff turns up as soon as Im stuck at work for the evening.

And there’s no sugar for tea.

Due to not being able to install my new hard drive because my case wasn’t made for putting more hard drives in so needed to buy a hard drive cage-- I can’t play lies of Pi until either the 7th or I uninstall Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves was a nightmare to install so i don’t really want to do that either.
