Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

time to get a crash course on ‘how not to get lawyer’d’ double quick, no greater argument for ‘lawyers are scum’ than how a whole bunch of them like to approach/handle witnesses

It’s okay, I’ve seen at least a half dozen youtube shorts clips of Better Call Saul and Suits so I’m pretty sure I’m now a law genius.

Loudly assert your 5th Amendment rights

do not concern yourself with petty questions like ‘sir this is a minor contract dispute you aren’t incriminated here’ and ‘that’s american law the british statute is different’

All trials can only last a maximum of 3 days and if they’ve not found the real criminal then the original defendant is immediately guilty even if we already proved it couldn’t have been them.

Phoenix Wright would never steer me wrong.

does phoenix wright offer any advice for when clown girls show up in court

Having now played GORD a little farther, into the sixth mission of the campaign, I can finally say a bit more about it.

There’s definetly a micro-management element to it with how you have to keep an eye on your subjects’ health and sanity, though if your Gord’s grown a bit and you have over 10 inhabitants, it can get a bit annoying when you’re about to do something, only to then see either one of your subjects about to die, or go insane. Which means you have to send them to the balia(bath) or meadery respectively to restore the health or sanity.

You also do not want your subjects to reach zero, because if they do, they can get either a physical or mental affliction, which can usually only be removed by taking them to a hermit or witch hut, which is -somewhere- on the map, and then hope you can cough up the required fee to heal them once more.

Overall you need to strike a balance between keeping your economy going, aswell as exploring around the map. I try to keep a small squad for just that, seeing as your gord can also get attacked, and it is convenient to try and clear out monsters, since your villagers will range out further and further looking for resources. I had it more than once that one of my villagers that wasnt a fighter suddenly ran through a monster-den and got killed :frowning:

On the lore aspect, here is where you can clearly see the game was made by former Witcher devs, given some of the monsters and Horrors ( grand nature demons that protect a part of the forest) are similar to some Witcher-ones. The story so far is pretty interesting too, given that it takes place in a land that is covered in eternal night, and you can find the extra lore not just from completing objectives, but also by finding scrolls throughout the land.

Overall it’s some getting used to, but definetly a fun game.

Now onto a Command and Conquer, but mostly an EA related peeve… for some reason my pc has decided that those games are too dangerous to be accessed from the desktop, saying the administrator blocked my acces… only I -am- the frikking administrator. Through the EA app I -can- launch them, but for some reason it does ask for administrator acces there too. The stupid thing is, those games used to work properly until yesterday, and I only have the issue with games launched through the EA app. So I wonder if they screwed the pooch on something. Quite frustrating…

First time and I’m over 2/3rds done with it in one week

Going into the Underdark in BG3 has been such a god damn miserable experience in both pacing, narrative and game mechanics that I haven’t played in a week. I am actively dreading it, like one of those really awkward DnD sessions you morbidly feel you have to attend out of politeness.

Wait, what game mechanics were present in Underdark? Pretty sure the annoying game mechanics was just for Act 2 with the Shadow curse thingy which you resolved in like, the first quest anyway. Do you mean the Sussur flower stuff?

I did find the area itself a little tiresome, but at least it was relatively short, and even though I prefer colourful sunshine-y areas I ultimately didn’t actually hate it as much towards the end.

AC6 releases at 11pm british time tonight. I don’t have work tomorrow. I could stay up and play a few missions just to cut my teeth on it…

or I could be normal go to bed at a reasonable time and then wake up ‘early’ tomorrow for a full day of mech action.
