Pet peeves: The return (Part 5)

Not anymore. Just complete the campaign.

As for what to do in 10.2 content — there are four transmog sets to collect for each of the four armor types, themed after the four seasons, for a total of 16 sets.

  • Summer you get from the campaign.
  • Autumn are world drops, you can buy them on the AH.
  • Spring you can buy with tokens from the seedbloom vendor who gives the dreamseed weekly. One piece per week per character. You can buy transmogs for other armor types and send them to alts to unlock.
  • Winter is randomly awarded from weeklies. You have three weekly quests each week, which reward 441+ gear from the winter transmog: planting five dreamseeds, getting 1500 reputation, and completing the superbloom event.

Superbloom begins at the start of every hour and lasts about 15 minutes.

And, of course, if you started DF a lot later you’re miles behind any of the good stuff.

Dragon colours? Lol, get grinding to the 20s reps, scrub!
The pre-order level boost is almost tempting just for that…

Even the Sniffen are a pain. I’m trying to get them to 20 since I’m also trying to tie together loose ends (and they have rep-locked profession knowledge, sidenote f-k barter bricks and boulders, whoever implemented them needs to step on a lego for a week) and it’s just frustrating. Yes, you can do the research event, but people hardly do them any more and you’re still short. Gotta grind the world quests and hope they’re the rep ones. All while the SNIFF SNIFF snork snork sounds spam into your ears. Yes, I know the toy exists, and yes, I use the toy. No, it doesn’t help.

Dream Wardens was so smooth to get in comparison it was funnily enough the first Paragon chest I got (and by Paragon I mean the chest that your rep goes towards after getting to max renown) out of all Renowns in the expac. IMO - Dream Wardens are probably one of the more enjoyable Renowns in the game right now.

The only problem is the Seedblooms, getting once a week is obnoxious. I guess you can repeat it on your alts, but it’s still very awkwardly once per week (and not retroactive, so if you miss a week you don’t get another afaik? I might be wrong on this - I hope I am), making it very obnoxious to get when you’re also wanting to get the Renown unlocked rewards as well.

I still maintain that most reputation/Renown locked items should be purchasable for a main resource (Gold or Supplies), not have some third currency system specifically meant to unlock stuff for you. Dragonflight in this regard is actually horrible, as many of the reputation rewards require you to have obnoxious items at hand. In fact, the reputation grind was the cost, just unlock it for free! You already get one of the recolours for free now!!!

‘Congrats, you’re Renown 18, you can now buy the mounts from this person. Haha, the person wants you to have specific random drops that otherwise will just clog your bagspace for no reason which you sold ages ago, because you didn’t know it’s used for this specific seller!’

I can get that having them accept something else than Gold is like, immersive or some stuff, but it really isn’t when all you’re doing is going to the Auction House to buy the items and look them up on WoWhead to know how much of what you’re buying anyway, since did you think you can look it up somewhere in game? Don’t be silly!

You don’t get them retroactively, no.

I do the weeklies on three characters each week (hunter, mage and druid), and I focused on sending all three seedblooms I earned each week to one character to get the mog I cared about faster. Then I repeated it with other mogs.

MoP was also bad at this, locking some items behind the double grind of reputation and valor points. I think these items are just sold for gold now.

i scream

I’ve had one character doing the Dream stuff, because playing alts is time consuming. Why is this timegated like so!!! Let me at least do something to get them retroactively back, I’ve unlocked the Renown requirements for it!!!

I think the Justice Points/Valor Points were much easier to get then. In a way, they’re basically the War Supplies currency of now. Dragonflight is pretty much unique in that all Renown vendors require you to have some tertiary fluff items thrown in to make the purchase. It’s really annoying, and at launch I was so afraid of throwing/selling these random items not labelled as junk, because what if I’ll need it later on?? Damn, this Primal Bear Spine and Large Sturdy Femur sure make it immersive for me to buy my Reputation rewards later on! Thanks for staying in my bags for two years.

I loathe how so many questlines and plot angles rely on Player being a complete fool, easily tricked by suspicious acting enemies. Over and over. Our Hero is an interdimensonal godlike creature of mythic prowess and the mind of a credulous toddler.

May not apply to you in particular, but as someone who didn’t play DF launch, my advice for renown in general is to just have two characters. Pretty sure you can hit renown 10 across the board from just doing any quests under the main story icon, at which point you get the 200% rep buff on alts and just have to clean out the zones of quests with the 200% catchup buff.

It’s by no means engrossing, but it gets you half a zone’s worth of rep (possibly more/less) for free. Not too bad if you have nothing else going on like me.

To completely be "that guy  " - the examples given are all labelled as non-soulbound crafting materials, at least.

I do agree with the notion that you should just be paying in gold/supplies, as well as the later point about how it being another [open wowhead, make checklist] snooze. It’s an idea that’s a bit more 2005 than 2023, for sure.

The entire start of Revendreth, good god.

I was hoping it’d be more complicated and still insist that necessary evil denathrius being the good guy cracking down on misguided rebels and corrupt aristocrats would’ve been a better story.

We were robbed of a patch where Revendreth stands on the edge of an expanding Maw, the realms finding new united purpose in the struggle. It would’ve worked had they not gated Shadowlands’ main plot beats behind individual covenants. The leveling story leads naturally into revendreths’ venthyr campaign + nathria raid after all.

I mean, back in late WoD, I boosted my druid from 84 to 90 to obtain the Springrain set.

Which is now possible to obtain in a thousand other ways, but it wasn’t the case back then.

Pretty sure that and the other boosted class sets were obtainable from the Salvage Crates from launch during WoD.

Yes, but it required you to construct a specific garrison building and do content.

I know, but, he said he used it for the last -three- bars towards max level. I mean, naturally he’s free to do that and if he wants to , more power to him, but… they currently ask 60 euros for a boost… that’s the price of a triple A game ( and an utterly ridiculous price, but lets not get into that). I dunno, I’d feel it a bit of a waste to use it on such a minor gain but, that’s me :man_shrugging:

You just needed a T3 salvage yard and do 95+ missions on the table… Which isn’t really doing content, but sure.

Point still stands it was available, but you boosted to get it I don’t blame you for it nor does it matter to the point being made.

I do love Mito boosting 3bars of EXP left though, absolute baller move

for the catchup gear and all of the renown gains.

Astral Light Bow my beloved

I mainly mourn the old salvage crates, the only source of so many unobtainables that are no longer available in the new boxes :pensive:

Supposedly farming Drak’tharon Keep normal is the best bet for Astral Light Bow (and here I recall buying it for like 20g)

I’ve done it a few times, but it’s an incredible pain and I don’t even play a hunter these days I just want it T_T
