Alot of American media tend to have this view:
England=London.
They somewhat know what Germany is but think its way off deep in eastern europe(Which is still portrayed as the 1940s)
The rest of Europe is one big mix of everything and just “europe”(no further specification).
At the rate it’s slowly eating up the surrounding areas it’s a given that with enough time this will eventually be true.
It sounds like a sentient monster that needs containment.

But I’ve seen them mess up American geography in comics too. Because apparently you have to include driving over the golden gate bridge in San Francisco, doesn’t matter if it makes no sense with where you’re going.
Don’t forget the odd Spain = Mexico and Portugal = also Mexico
A recent Captain America comic had him go visit some abandoned factory thing in the middle of nowhere in wooded mountains.
Apparently those where supposed to be the Alps? Took me three re-reads to realise that it was the only possible option and idk what ref they used for the art but those were not the Alps…
I love when they do this in Hollywood movies. The screen says its in some very specific region(usually one of the few Americans actually know), yet the landscape could not be more blatantly different to its actual one.
It’d be like if someone made a movie about the US and had a scene say “The Nevada desert” while showing a cornfield in the middle of Kansas.
The Titans show did some really, really funny stuff with Austria. Including a road sign declaring the distance between two neighbouring places having a distance noted on it that is actually longer than all of Austria.
So, if we’re dividing posts on who gets to rule which country ( Akamito for UK, Vixi for Sweden), then it is with a heavy heart, I shall take up the rule of the Netherlands.
