Yeah that was some really uncanny valley stuff. Lots of call backs to Ecclestons second episode as well which I only noticed because I recently watched it, particularly with hooking the telephone up for Ruby.
It was some real tonal whiplash though given that we’d just watched The Girl in the Fireplace, arguably one of my favourite episodes ever, two days before.
I have also tried to master this power.

Very deliberatly by RTD I feel. He is also written all of the episodes directly except for two of them. This week’s one coming up is a Moffat episode.

Hopefully so! He really shines when writing rather than showrunning or directing. Which I feel can be a bit opposite for RTD sometimes.
