Go woke, go broke!
Despite the fact that evidence is often to the contrary, the red faced ragers love to spout that line.

to the surprise of nobody, new AC is preordering very well in Japan, where Yasuke is an extremely popular character
i’m going to keep accidentally calling him yosuke because persona 4 has broken my brain meat
Its especially stupid because they’re going on about it being inaccurate–
No, no it isn’t? This time period is my weeb house with the early Samurai Warriors games being based there, Onimusha also set in that period and recently Nioh-- of which by the way, I’m pretty sure Yasuke appeared in the latter.
All in all, i am interested in an AC game again because I love that time period.
I’m thinking about it.
EDIT: the great thing about it is if they hadn’t decided to rage about it, I would not know the next AC is set there and would not be thinking about buying it.
He showed up in Samurai Warriors too, though only in 5.

It sucks because I’ve wanted an AC game in Japan since…well, AC1, but Ubisoft’s awful price gouging and monetisation stuff turns me off completely.
Good.
I stopped playing SW at 2… maybe 3? So wouldn’t know past that. But as he should.
That’s fair, I haven’t played one since 2 and stopped because 2 was irritating me.
Gamers™ also try to discredit the real person by downplaying his role and actions in history, claiming “actually he wasnt a real samurai”.
The only person who can say yay or nay about that is Hideyoshi himself and he was like; “yeah, he’s a samurai”
Also I bet you they don’t scutinize William Adams as much (you know, the very white irish Samurai)
Gamers™ are only conspicuously concerned about historical accuracy when it suits their idea of history.
Yeah, I know. Just as said, hella funny because they got me interested in an assassin’s creed game again.
I am going to beat them all with physical copies of EVERY. SINGLE. OTHER. AC GAME. EVER.
Gamers™ were a mistake and need to Get In The Sea.
It’s still Goobisoft.
S’all I’m saying. If we should get comfortable with ‘not owning games’, then they’re not in the running for meaningful transactions.
AssCreed never having historical accuracy* means you can safely disregard people appealing to it.
In other words: https://aftermath.site/assassins-creed-shadows-yasuke-racism
*though Origins’ “Discovery Mode” got widespread praise as a legitimate source+teaching tool, to give credit where credit is due.
Out of the recent ones, I very much enjoyed Odyssey (before the obtuse “Your actions are totally a choice, but Oh No, nonsensical consequences that you couldn’t have forseen without a guide have locked you out (possibly) from the better ending!” decided to derail and annoy me massively)
I mean, the Leaps of Faith from day 1 have been “Yeah, stick your Realism down by the side there, you’re not gonna need all of that”, and then when you get full on mythical creatures… yeeeah.
As said, last AC I played was 2 and I quit 2 because the carnival/festival was driving me nuts and I haven’t played one since.
Also I did not like going from Altair to Ezio.
Even if that were the case, since when did Assassin’s Creed care about historical accuracy? Even with my surface-level insight in the series, I know better than to expect a true-to-reality simulation from games literally involving Atlantis, lost civilizations and sci-fi antiquities.
I know that’s way besides the point, but… it’s like they’re not even trying.
Literally just because the dude’s black and the article that Elanthas posted is true, you cannot argue with these people.
I personally face palm because as said, its set in a time period that I used to basically absorb so like-- of course I know there was a black samurai and his importance to the time period.
I am half tempted to say this is going to be a psyop, its people who have never played AC complaning because there’s diversity.
It’s the same reason they all use ‘Woke’ now.
“I can’t stand all this Woke in games!” will get them far less flak then “I can’t stand all these Black People in games!”, which is what they really mean.
Swap ‘woke’ for the real words they’re actually wanting to use, and it all makes sense very fast.
also;
women
LGBTQ+ representation
other BIPOC characters
Worrying and true. I’m very pro-wokeness, incidentally. I get to vote and have a job - something that today would surely be considered “wokeness” if that uphill battle hadn’t already been fought.
As a trans person, yeah, I am also very woke.
Have you SEEN what the unwoke world is trying to do to me and my peers?! It would be stupid not to be woke.
