If I can’t RP the character, it doesn’t get made. Simples
Some people RP to win.
What that means, I to this day do not understand.
They need to win because they need to feel some control maybe.
I reckon they always wish to be the main protagonist in every situation, which is what I assume is meant with “RP to win”.
A friend of mine who ran an rp plot in Duskwood told me about how there were constantly people around there trying to butt in and try and be the leader all the time. I assume they count as “RP to win.”
I tend not to brainstorm a fully formed character concept right away, but start with the basics and work out the details later. Even Lintian started pretty basic, with a two-sentences profile and going through a few beta transmogs before I settled on one I was happy with.
People with ‘main character syndrome’ are the worst, both in RP and outside of games.
Anyone who calls other, real human beings ‘NPCs’ just needs slapping. And probably a wedgie.
And then throwing in the sea/the bin.
I mean, the only time you’re going to be the main character all the time is if you write your own novel.
Either that or you become a cult leader.
( I was going to type 'People who are somehow crazy enough to let you be the main character all the time but, then I thought ‘hold up, that’s just a cult’)
ive rp’d with someone like this before and he was terrible to be around.
i was dming an event in gw2 for about…10 people so sizable crowd, trying to make sure everyone had at least something to do. naturally some characters have more because of situational advantadges. this guy didnt like that he wasnt the centre of the event and threw an ooc fit at me over it telling me i should never dm again.
charming
Reminded of a certain mage who would just “fix” every problem by throwing magic at it.
Needed a camp built? Mirror images.
Needed food? Conjure refreshments.
Just took the whole survival part out of the event.
Then got annoyed with me when they tried to use gas to put everybody to sleep (They were DMing for a day) and was talking about everybody breathing it in and I was like; “I’m undead, I don’t breathe”
My first ‘main’ RP character, I fleshed out with a full backstory and history timeline (that I ended up forgetting years later and made a few continuity errors in a public even, lol+lmao at the embarrassment). Needless to say, maybe the character herself was unfun as she was meant to be a more stoic and no-nonsense Huntress, but RPing her certainly didn’t hold a candle to the fun I’ve had with Nerathion.
Nerathion started out as a simple throwaway alt whose descriptor was ‘novice druid who smiles a lot’.
Any sort of detail or whatnot I’d make up on the spot when necessary and through RPing him I’d end up with a more ‘fleshed out character’. Ironically enough, I’d end up remembering those details more as the nature of him being more outgoing meant he’d also share the same tidbits often.
I got my monk fans from doing the isle of thunder questline!
Yay.
Warcrime monk is not currently using 2 1h weapons though unfortunately (zandi who followed Zul to Pandaria but is now a follower of Akunda)
I can’t roleplay a character until I’ve let the concept cook for a while and figured out a clear, detailed profile of what they’re like and where they’ve been. Without that I think I get stuck thinking about what the character would do or say in response to a situation for too long, and end up writing too slow to be particularly engaging for others
As for making a character-- I have some idea with what i want to do on them if I ever do want to RP them. Its just whether I will RP thrm or not.
But then that character can go into my book later.
“Oh, I’ll DM again. You, on the other hand, are barred for life. Bye bye.”
Remade my Worgen rogue who has sat at 40 equivalent through a, or maybe even two, stat squish.
Hopefully Timerunning will make things easier/more enjoyable. Also unlocks Leather sets, which works for my Monk too
and lo, i never did with him again after that. amazing.
Elon has banned me off of his platform after referring to Garrosh Hellscream, Warchief of the Horde and primary antagonist in the Siege of Orgrimar raid a ‘[expletive]in pinhead’, and my appeal has been rejected.
Keep appealing.
I saw a colouring book in HMV for “monsters” and I swear one on the cover was Garrosh.
Wait, what? I saw that earlier and it was completely innocuous lmao
i think after I’ve done my monk in timerunning, I’ll remake my LF rogue and my unholy belf DK (as opposed to my frost belf DK)
