That is your own problem, you made the concious choice to play on the sticky server
Whenever I’ve peeped EU FFXIV stuff, it hasn’t really appealed to me I guess. I even got through all of ARR like a month ago on Omega, then went ‘hmm maybe this ain’t for me’.
Re-doing Landfall during remix and I’m hating on my memory right now
Why do I remember stuff like WoW quests and pokemon evolutions but not like… important irl stuff?
Replaying Landfall made me re-remember something that’s a personal opinion of mine.
I loved and love Pandaria, I think its one of if not the best expansion. The patches were great, so was the storylines and quests.
But I do think the Horde & Alliance conflict was the weakest of the expansion. It had good stuff, but my issue is that Garrosh(and honestly most orc npcs) in MoP are a bit cartoonishly evil in terms of villainy. To the point where it’s just a bit like “…Why did we not do anything sooner?”
The end of the Landfall story for Alliance-side is a good example, as you have a face to face with Garrosh on his own vs both you and Anduin(except for 1 orc that you defeat) and him doing abhorrently evil stuff.
And then just…leave him.
As horde, you just sit and watch him do it after killing ishi.
I don’t think Leo likes there’s a dude mowing the lawns outside
Also yay! LF Monk is now 70!
It really didn’t do a good job of giving the orcs moral nuance – “oh they were only genocidal when under demonic influence” doesn’t really wash when Garrosh was able to drive them into a murderous frenzy vs their own allies pretty quickly, and then again in Warlords.
I said this(or similiar) on Lintians Retrospective thread.
For a faction that’s supposedly meant to be a mixture of both misunderstood and regretting their own past, they sure are very quick to go on murder sprees with minimal encouragement.
It’s mostly a case of inconsistent writing and poor characterisation. The Horde being comprised of warlike races who find honour in a good fight is fine and cool, but making the orcs predisposed to mass murder just leaves a big stain on their lore/story.
It’s a real shame, because I otherwise think that the orcs being shamanistic with close ties to nature is a very fresh idea from most fantasy genres(for orcs at least).
As roleplayers we can still do all of that at least, since we’re able to just… ignore the bad/incoherent characterisation in favour of the parts we do enjoy.
That’s fair! I’m just taking a small jab at Balmung having a certain reputation, not that far from what AD has but dialed up.
It is the de facto RP server on NA if memory serves
I think just having more Orcish characters involved would’ve solved this tbh, we see the Belves, Trolls and Tauren popup throughout MoP to lambast Garrosh and say “Nah, we’re not going through with this anymore, good luck on your own buddy”, but we never see the others do it. Having Saurfang and Eitrigg show up much earlier and be much more proactive about trying to reel the horde back in and maintain the honour of the Orcs would have been a great contrast to Garrosh going full Grommash as it would have given us Orcs, other than Thrall, with their own groups going “Nah, we’re with the others on this, Garrosh has gone too far, these Orcs will uphold the pledge that Thrall’s Horde was founded on, to temper warrior honour with peace.”
It’s one of the de factor RP servers, yeah, but in practice you find guilds and groups and venues all across the data center (Mateus especially).
It’s the premium venue for Quicksands debauchery though, yes.
I follow a couple people on Twitter from the other servers in Mateus, seems like a lot of cool venues for sure.
Meanwhile EU is just full of nightclubs, most of which are super coomer or just generic.
Such a shame, though I’ve seen a few on Light that are more traditional RP venues so that is cool.
Most of my roleplay group are based on Light, so I have to data center hop fairly often for events
I have achieved my sha-skinned cloud serpent (since its colours match)
She just needs a black and white preferably pandaren-based ground mount and then she is done.
I was on Balmung for maybe 30 minutes before I got propositioned in whispers out of nowhere when leveling.
The fact I was on a Lalafell made it alot more disturbing than it normally is.
I’ve never actually been propositioned on Balmung. Kinda offended ngl.
I have on Discord due to posting a RP ad, though.
You need to step up your game clearly girl.
I’ve managed to avoid it on WoW, but I have gotten it on Swtor, ESO and FF.
I have gotten it on WoW and FF.
Leave my Roe Witch alone, she’s not interested.
Also the one who whispered my old lady belf warrior… maybe read her profile? Still inappropriate to whisper anybody that however.
