Pet peeves: The return (Part 7)

I think their good vas but their shows dont engage me alas. Ive a friend who loves them so i try to show some interest.

Vox machina the animated series is fine to me tho

When I saw the preview for Vox Machina with the horny bard I also decided it wasn’t for me.

It is worth a watch, the bard do be horny but that’s part of the very surface level stuff from the first few episodes

It is id say. If you can get over Sam Riegel being a horny on main halfling bard it makes for good watching. The animations peak and the storylines pretty good.

The reminder that clerics can and will demolish you nine ways to Sunday is.something i think priest mains should remember.

Stop it I don’t want to level up my priest for roleplay pls

Never watched the animated series, mostly because ‘screw amazon’, but I enjoy critical role. Mostly because it was one of those ‘kept the mind from going mad during the plague’ shows.

That said I can’t get people not feeling it, and even as a fan I find Laura Bailey and Sam Riguel (no idea how it’s spelt) overwhelming irritiating at times. Neither seems to know when enough is enough, which works for their friendship but not as a viewer.

Oh, for sure don’t pay for Amazon prime for it

Sail the seas

(And if nothing else check out the dragon designs, they’re super cool)

you just summed up his entire performance in ff14 as alphinaud.

this is how i keep getting trapped by these things. if theres a cool dragon design i will watch or play it.

I start screeching and my void elf gains a level

I know it’s not for me.

But then I know streamers are not for me, either.

Watching other people play games is not my idea of fun. Watching paid actors reenact playing a game is even less so.

And I admit the sheer rabid fandom has completely turned me off everything connected to the show, even setting rulebooks. “Have you heard of that critically acclaimed show, Critical Role?” “Oh, this mechanic in this game is just like on Critical Role!” “Here’s how Matt Mercer would do this…” JUST SHUT UP!

I liked the first Gamers and Dorkness Rising. After that, I thought the shtick was exhausted, and didn’t bother with any of the other movies.

I’ll watch some Lets Players and the occasional live stream. Usually it’s for games I’m not interested in playing myself (puzzle games especially when I’m doing something else, or to see someone else’s perspective/info. Informative LPs that pull in “behind the scenes” details are my jam, since it’s often stuff I wouldn’t know otherwise.

I’ll watch the occasional speedrun too. Seeing someone complete Baldur’s Gate 3 (honour mode, glitchless) in 50 minutes is fascinating, even if it’s being played in a way completely divorced from how I’d engage with it.
