Pet peeves: The return (Part 7)

second dungeon area in elden ring cleared

rennala was really easy compared to godrick. not sure why she’s still alive and just chatting with me after i obliterated her

still going strong on needing no more than two attempts to beat a boss

she lets you respec your character

but like. why is she doing that

literally moments earlier she was trying to kill me with her weird children

Ive seen alot of stories about how CR brought a huge influx of new players(which is great!) but also a not insignificant number who’ve been very problematic as they expected their games to be identical to CR and threw tantrums over that their DM and players werent trained professional voice actors.

Hadn’t had her snickers, don’t worry about it.

Summary

There’s a theory that her initial state as being kind of delirious/mad is one maintained by Ranni as a ‘kindness’ to her mother, and after you break Ranni’s spell (phase 2 of the fight) it frees Rennala up to return to consciousness proper once more where she’s a chill respeccer.

relatable to be honest.

i still don’t know why i was even in her magical school trying to kill her to be honest

people keep telling me to become the elden lord and i have to kill people to do it, but like why do i even want to be an elden lord? why am i even in this utter hellscape at all?

She’s got one of the Great Runes which you, supposedly, need to become Elden Lord.

Grace gave you new life and immortality, and the Two Fingers compel you to become the Elden Lord. Most Tarnished would have a Finger Maiden to guide them and convey the will of the Two Fingers.

Alas, you are Maidenless.

let me tell you, elenthas, i kept hearing about these two fingers having no idea what they were and just assumed it was some weird name for a group of people or perhaps divine entity

what i was not expecting was to walk into a room where there are literally two giant fingers

not for long. i’ve met this girl sellen and yeah she’s wearing one of those stupid beard hats but she has a cute voice and i can see her feet.

Now the only question is if this genius is from Miyazaki or George RR Martin.

A question I used to ask myself for years.

still curious to meet this so-called loathsome dung eater they talked about in the intro

what even IS that name

that’s gotta be martin at work

same, i grew up in blackpool

This freshly bought oat milk had some lumps in it. Surely this is still fine to consume and nothing can go wrong, right?

Ew!

At least we’re all in this mess together.

Its a weird situation because I think a lot of people genuinely believe there isn’t any level of scripting or preparedness in Critical Role’s play which is, frankly, I feel just pure ignorance on people’s part. Matt very obviously is a DM who prepares for every eventuality because the Player’s bring in veritable novellas about their characters and where their stories will go so he knows in advance what plots he wants to do and what stories he wants to write - which is fine! This is a perfectly valid format for playing D&D and a lot of tables enjoy it but there is a certain level of ignorance to the fact that is, by definition, a scripted style of play even if its only the DM with the entire script.

I do see a lot of people point the finger at CR as well for the drastic uptick in new players to the hobby, which is good, but they’re equally blamed for the also drastic uptick in players who bring non-stop quirky characters to tables now and. . .yeah I have my feelings about those types of characters (I’m a stick in the mud boomer and I hate it).

Sit down, old man. Before you hurt yourself.

Best character design.

Elden Ring generally has an odd thing for fingers.
But then again.
It’s about a Ring.

better fingers than feet

Id personally say this is less due to CR’s fault and more the surge in popularity of zany characters and antics in shorts videos.

Which can be fun, but peoole just see it and think “omg its so funny, i wanna do that” with no context.

Oh don’t worry Miyazaki likes those too
Though ER is very mild on feet.

Also not sure how fingers > feet survives the finger creepers.

Nah, she’s still pretty loopy afterwards too.

I got to a point on one character where she congratulated me for respeccing so much

EDIT:

I felt this.
