Yeah but they wouldn’t be hitting people with it, 'cos they’d be too busy casting spells.
Unless, I suppose, they made it the fistweaver of vanilla. I guess that’d work, though I’m not sure a class with Tank and Healing specs only would fly.

Holy in Classic is actually fairly bonky since you’re meant be using Seal/Judgement of Wisdom to help keep your mana regen up but a lot of people forget this and just spam Holy Light.
Edit: then they complain when they have no mana.
rework wrath into insect swarm
rework insect swarm into racoon swarm.
in the world of modern wow it wouldnt. it would work but youd have the same idiots who couldnt comprehend augmentations low damage was because of how buff they were making everyone else.
2hand fistweaver paladin would have been revolutionary…
I am still forever salty they took away ranged Surv, mangled it into a shoddy melee meanwhile you got AFK spec (BM) and practically ranged surv minus DoTs left (MM)
Also additional post peeve, it’s warm. It’s humid. I am dying.
playing it in wrath and cata classic made me realise how much i missed it. i like melee hunter dont get me wrong but it feels like a mess to play with a massive chunk of your damage stuck in fury of the eagle.
Yep! And the constant either you have good ST damage or good AoE no inbetween.
Hello I am hunter class designer
Perfectly in tune with my animal companion I attack in a Coordinated Assault- ah sorry that’s survival
I have studied the way of the beast and leap with my Mongoose B- survival again
Okay fine let’s check out survival, who has thrown a shrapnel bomb directly in front of their own face
“I am a master survivalist completely in tune with nature. So watch me start this brush fire with this acid bomb I cooked up from some pinecones, a turtle shell and this industrial strenght asbestos i found in a dumpster.”
Survival being a ranged spec focused on bleeds, poisons and bombs and beast mastery being a coordinated team of hunter and beast striking from melee instantly solves the problems of both specs
i unleash myself and my pet into a berserker rage! this somehow makes me better at loading a gun or bow, both things which famously require a great deal of hand/eye coordination and patience!!
Don’t forget it also solves the random retcon of Rexxar from THE BEASTMASTER to survivalist.
I loathe whoever made the RANGED DoT BASED SPECC a melee when BM was right there
from Beast Master to Beast Manager (‘you’re doing a good job sweetie go for the throat i’ll be right behind you bestie’) frfr
Also, and this is a peeve I share with Enhance Shammy and whatever else has it;
If melee weapon buffs are an inherent part of the class/balance, then either make them have unlimited duration or bake their numbers in inherently, the same with Rogue poisons. No, I don’t care, it’s lame and stupid and adds NOTHING to gameplay, shame on you, shame on your cow, shame on your design philosophy.
Edit: This does not extend to clickies/burst/CD buffs etc, I’m purely talking about long-term application buffs that are just a chore to remember to apply, for no good reason.
At the very least with rogues I can maybe get the arguement. There are situations in which you want Wound Poison over Deadly Poison on assassination, and while I’m not big on amplifying poison there is something very satisfying about shivving into a cold-blooded Envenom and seeing a massive number - having them with a limited duration could maybe be an arguement to incentivize players to give the other sorts a try…
…but yeah to be honest for all I just said I’d instantly trade that away in a heartbeat if it meant never entering combat without my primary source of enery generation ever again (including times where I’ve accidentally put on weapon poison which does nothing for assassination). I do have a weakaura for it now if it’s missing or only has five minutes left, but still.
Joke class, honestly.
Pure back-of-napkin brainstorming here, but I’d in a heartbeat throw Slice and Dice and Roll the Bones in the bin, and add certain poisons into the combo rotation?
Like, clicking on a Poison before you use a Combo Finisher to douse your weapons (or bullet for Outlaw) in that poison? Say you have a fight you want to stack DoT on, or a debuff or… something more interesting AND with a lot more player agency than the absolute jank that is RtB now?
In a typical RPG, it makes sense to have abilities that aren’t optimal in the slightest but still fun or useful for no reason beyond adding universe and world flavour.
However, WoW has in terms of gameplay at-least, moved away from its RPG roots a long time ago. In WoW it feels like its just…wasted development times and weird to even make spells and abilities which are absolutely not gonna be used by anyone except the new players who will then never use them again as soon as they find a guide.
The way WoW is currently designed as game, they should either make sure the abilities are useful or used by said class or just not make them.
I sadly feel like this about a lot of Racial abilities.
The Dracthyr wing and tail sweep are both really cool! But, given how button-heavy Evoker is, they’re ultimately just clutter, I find.
How cluttered a class is seems to be so hit and miss, too?
Technically there still is a use-case for weapon poison Instant Poison in assassination, but it’s niche, and I’m actually logging my rogue right now to double check that it is actually worth doing but basically on assrogue you’re always limited to one poison for damage, and one poison for utility - but there’s a talent riiiiiight at the very bottom of the tree called Dragon-Tempered Blades that lets you apply one extra of each type. If you’re not spec’d into Amplifying Poison, then you’ll probably want to run Deadly Poison and Instant Poison, as Wound Poison deals less damage overall and healing reduction isn’t as important outside of PVP… where you don’t typically run Dragon-Tempered Blades as you’re more focused on buffing bleed effects.
Is that single-use case worthy of Instant Poison’s continued existence in assassination? Probably not, but it does remain there for now.
All shaman specs have a melee weapon swing ability - which is honestly kind of cool, I think the idea of a shaman healer RPing as a paladin by being in the melee and using that to get the same buffs as enhance would actually be a really interesting playstyle!
…Unfortunately it costs so much mana that you’d OOM yourself within minutes if you spammed it, so if you want an offensive ability you have Lightning Bolt instead.
One final edit but take one look at my tauren resto shammy - this man belongs right in the middle of the fight, not in the backline with the priests and the locks and the mages. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GRE56q1WwAAToxd?format=jpg&name=medium
Give Earth Shaman tank now.
