Watching a random video on Artix Entertainment games. Got reminded of a stupid joke and how their writing sometimes is solid.
There’s a quest in one of the games where you need to infiltrate a Sneevil fort(yet again). Sneevils being the little box goblins that Stairshed/Kora loves. Part of infiltrating is is figuring out their super secret password.
The password ends up being just ‘Box’. But then it doesnt work anyway as while you have the correct password, you’re also obviously not a Sneevil.
I think that is both a great double joke and some solid writing for such silly characters.
its the combo of anakin and obi wan entering the bar and anakin wanting to be his wing man but obi wan telling him his game is weak, and the iconic stereo bass space battle with jango fett
I dont like the sequels not because their bad films (i really dont like rise of skywalker, last jedi was good, and force awakens was a great star wars movie.) but because i hate how the actors got treated. John Boyega and Daisy Ridley deserved better. As did the actress who played Rose. John especially with how they hyped up Finn and gradually wrote him out it felt like. Stormtrooper turned possible Jedi would have been great (“but he didnt have the force” be silent.)
Good films, manhandled by Disney. Could have been a good 3/3.
This sums it up for me. People got all whingey, but I remember how they slated the films they were now lauding as ‘The Good Old Days’ (i.e. the prequels)
Force Awakens was a good film and a good Star Wars film. The next two were a mess, for whole heaps of reasons IMO.
The Usual Sorts criticise them because of ‘woke’ and personal bias, attacks on Disney and contrationism.
I criticise them because the narratives lose all consistency, they swivel on happenstance and they feel So Badly like they butchered the scripts because “Oh no, people guessed the plot points because the narrative was cohesive and touched base with some well established tropes on the way!”
We are not the same.
Not really a fan of the new star wars stuff generally. Rogue One was decent, never really got the complaints about the dialogue… like it’s star wars, if people walked in expecting macbeth that’s on them.
Didn’t really like the force awakens because it basically reset everything which I just found incredibly lazy. Not watched the other two films outside of small clips, and I do like Yoda telling Luke to hush and move on - it’s what should be happening narratively anyway. Again it’s not even anything other than they don’t appear to have moved forward. Papatines back, there’s a third death star but now it’s the size of a planet and it’s like… if you wanted to do the early EU, then keep and film the early EU. Otherwise move forward.
Can’t speak on the series really because… well disney+ and I’m not paying for that. But Andor seems ok, the mandalorian one is probably ok but I don’t like mandalorians generally so will never know.
I still lament the fact that the worst thing Disney did with Star Wars was saying that all of EU was non canon, and now slowly, they’re introducing stories from that EU, but often as worse versions.
