RP him being uncomfortable about it but soldiering on. Like, he knows he should be afraid but has to deal with the disconcerting confusion of not being afraid. Cognitive dissonance of it.
Just say heās still afraid of the dark.
A character actually having immunity to all fear, roleplayed to its full extent, would be practically inhuman(inelfen/indwarven/ingnomen/etc.). I generally take paladin fear immunity to be less āyou never feel fearā and more āwhen the time comes, a paladin will never break because of fear. They will always overcome it when they need to, even if it still rests in their heartā.

My preference for it is that it just feels unnatural, where your natural instinct for fear is being repressed. But I guess itās however the PC wants to play it out.
If thatās all it took, it deserved to be destroyed 
Anyway Underdeep is spot on, thereās plenty of FFXIV RP. Loads, even. What it lacks is random, walk-up roleplay, something I donāt particularly mind either. I like being able to arrange stuff instead.
