Pet peeves: The return (Part 9)

now you are the mug

I have a mighty memory for AD dramas of yore, but I do agree that responding to everything a drama blog posts isn’t exactly worthwhile.

Youtube threw a “can you become an ethical millionaire in skyrim” video and out of curiosity for the parameters I opened it in a private tab and came away disappointed.

They said they had a no killing, no stealing, and no looting rule, but the “no killing” didn’t extend to their companions killing for them, and “no looting/stealing” just meant no looting chests/bodies and can’t take anything marked red, so you could still loot anything marked white, even if it wasn’t yours.

It did at least prompt me to think if it was possible (with the added difficulty hiccup of survival mode requiring food/water/sleep) and…maybe.

The initial seed money is done by chopping wood, but he picked up someone else’s woodcutter axe to do that, and googling tells me they’re not often for sale from merchants, even if you do a few ethical quests for the cash to buy it.

Surpassing the initial hurdle of money to start turning a profit is really the only quibble, and I guess that’s the interesting part. If you bypass it by using infinite woodcutting cash, well, the challenge is basically over at that point. You could just sit chopping wood for a few RL days and be done.

if you quit out of persona 3 because you lost all joy and evaporated, I don’t think this will go better for you

at least in demons souls the environment is cool to look at

It is a remake of the first game in the “series”, so be prepared for some antiquated designs.

I already know that healing items are consumables and if I use it I lose it which is truly awful.

Speaking of Dragon Age
really not sure how I feel about the character models
something just doesn’t look right at all

Reasons why spiffing brit and doug doug are the only true skyrim content creators?

I’m with you on that. I’m starting to get used to it, but there’s something about the art style and in particular the way the characters look that is off putting and I can’t pinpoint why. Part of it is definitely how glossy everyone looks, like everything has been covered in a heavy layer of vaseline.

They look a little plastic. Granted, I’m going off screenshots, but many of them seem to lack those minor little face details.

Inqusition had alot of watery effects and gloss too. Everything in that game always looked slightly wet.

I still don’t know how I feel about Inquisition as a game. I finished it, but more I think out of compulsion than necessarily enjoyment. Just didn’t hit the same as Origins and even Dragon Age 2 did.

Hoping Veilguard hits the spot.

Inquisition is just another classic Bioware title: really cool story, interesting characters, mediocre gameplay.

I think that Inquisition’s gameplay was harder to swallow just because of how much of it there was versus the more linear offerings we’d had before from them.

Open world format just really didn’t suit their style to be honest, and they had to try it to find out I guess.

Might also be part of the reason that Andromeda failed.

Looking at the average time to play the games are very telling of Inquisition’s problems (As much as I love the game).

Dragon Age: Origins is about 30-40 hours of gameplay if you do as much as you can in a playthrough.

Dragon Age 2 is about 20-30 hours.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is over a 100+ hours.

There will always be the argument of “Oh but you can beeline the story and not spend that much time.” but most people will naturally do as much as they can so they don’t potentially miss things.
