Petition for Blizzard to merge servers in TBC Classic

A growing problem across multiple realms has been people transfering away to join bigger realms which starts an avalanche of migrations. This leaves back servers with little to no players.

I know this has been an issue since Classic with little to no effort done from Blizzard. I came across this petition on my realms discord: https://chng.it/v8WNSQ8mfZ and would like to ask as many of you as possible to back it up. I know the chances are slim but what else is there left to do.

To give insight, my guild is currently in a state where you raidlog since there is little to no community left on the realm. You can get a dungeon at specific hours if they are apart of TBC. With the realm dying more and more the possiblity of a guild-wide transfer has come up but the majority would rather quit the game than paying for a migration (15% discount LOL??)

An easy fix would be to merge a large part of the realms or give free transfers. I just hope this can change something as a last effort.

See for yourself at https://ironforge.pro/population/tbc/ how some realms has around 1k or less active players.

The petition is not my own but a last hope/cry for help. Please Blizzard, open your eyes to this issue.

Yeah, there’s too many realms like this ow.
Blizzard as usual are useless and never even acknowledged it.
So now we have the issue of all of the servers becoming 1 faction sided.
Nice PvP realms, am I right? lol.

Signed!
I was happily playing with my guild in Earthshaker, with alot of fellow horde players.
Got frequently asked to dungeons, and raids. Few weeks back my guild migrated to Firemaw… I was like ok, maybe i´ll find another guild. And so i did, or atleast i thought so  Two days later they also migrated to Firemaw WTF?!
After that i checked server populations, and results was kinda sad. over 5000 Alliance players, and 375 Hordes!
MMO at it´s best! Got many Group/Dungeon quests undone, and looks like it will be like that for a while, cause i aint gonna pay 25euros/per character to move those to another server. Still im paying 13e per month to play this…
Crap!

this is a good idea

Signed with a faint hope.

This is kinda what happened to a lot of servers
Just becomes an effect.
One guild transfers > another > another >another.

Same thing happened to my server as well. Back in August people declared the server dead (even though it was p1 content draught and summer holidays and server was fine) so guilds started leaving. Now, server has actually become dead because of said guilds. Self fulfilling prophecy pretty much

my guild finally had enough of blizzards ignorance and incompetence. we literally waited for the moment we could not put a raid together on primetime during weekends before we finally decided to pay for a transfer.

we talked about how it would be like rewarding your dog for pooing on the floor, seeing as you’re essentially rewarding blizzard with a tremendous amount of money for a whole guild to transfer (especially if they transfer more than 1 character) all because they were too incompetent to merge dying servers with other dying servers in an attempt to at least stave off the cancer that is paid server migrations.

for a long time we hoped it would get better. we were very optimistic about phase 2’s release. but all we’ve gotten for our faith is a kick in the mouth.

so yes, we finally decided to transfer to Firemaw, since that seems to be the only server that won’t die off due to a lack of playerbase. we didn’t really want to play on a mega server, but we saw ourselves forced to, due to fears that Gehennas which is rapidly becoming horde dominated, suffering the same fate as Gandling, and servers like Ashbringer, although being attractive for now, might suffer the same issue when the next huge migration wave comes along.

personally me and a guildie of mine made a bet. he is convinced that before december 2021 blizzard will provide free transfers off dying servers, to which i am adamantly convinced they won’t (otherwise they would have done it months ago - as in, before-TBC-launch-amounts-of-months-ago)

i can’t wait to get paid my ez 2000 gold for winning this bet.

At launch when they kept opening new servers, I was saying they’re probably opening too many that would become dead after the hype died down. They should’ve had more foresight and prepared for it.

My suggestion would’ve been to have all servers virtually separate at start but linked by realm type (PVP / Normal / RP etc) with name availability shared between them. Then they could just do a full merge after a few months with no name conflicts, instead of the cheap looking and confusing “connected realms” they chose instead. Hopefully they do something like this for wotlk, but I doubt it.

Either way, the way blizzard currently merges realms is crap, and I hate it.

I am 100% against merging realms. They just need connecting.

Signed with a faint hope.

because this has gone too far. I’l Sign

It would be lovely, but you know how cashgraBlizzard work.
Why solve the problem, when they can sell a solution.
Disgusting.

I doubt they will merge since they haven’t ever done that.
But they could for example give free transfers out of the sufficiently empty realms.

Let’s face it not a lot of money left to be made out of servers like Stonespine,Gandling,Dreadmist,Judgement,Dragonfang,Bloodfang and Skullflame.

So now that basically everyone willing to pay has been milked why not for example pick a server maybe even one of those 7 and allow free transfers to there from the other six.
That way they can still keep milking people that maybe want to go to Gehennas/Firemaw but the rest of us can clump up to form one functional server at least.

In my native language we say of people like those at Blizzard that their belly is full.
What it means is that Blizzard is so stuffed that it doesn’t bother to fix even things that would bring more income, since they have no need or desire for it.

Apart from that, it may also be that Retail is their flagship, and classic is just a minor source of income in their minds. Something they laid out with minimal effort from the start, with the sole purpose of getting more easy subs. Whether those subs are 10 or 1 thousand it matters little, it’s still easy money and what matters is that it remains easy. Caring about merging and offering free transfers is “difficult”. Blizzard won’t aim for long term, steady and medium income, over fast and occasional huge income (mass migrations, which transferring players have proved fool enough to want to pay for).

So, majority pay and few special ones dont just because they are unwilling to pay?
Doesnt sound like fair deal, make majority angry and get mass refund requests?

RIP Mograine Alliance, basically just RIP WoW 2005-2011 LULW

Yea, it’s not like we are not already paying for the game service. I am pretty sure we did not sign up for “private” servers, it’s Blizzard’s job to balance the servers in time, open transfers etc… this is a joke now, I wonder did anyone sue them for this ripoff. Ye sorry we screwed up the servers, pay us extra so u can move somewhere else…and the same thing can happen there also :stuck_out_tongue: This is just pure money grabbing , just look at those servers and population, no free transfers no merges, just pay and and get lost.Blizzard disappoints.
