Petition: Let us determine the size of our combat pets

This is a petition to Blizzard to consider implementing client-side sized combat pets. What this means is that from the player’s perspective, the combat pets that they are able to summon will appear at whatever size they wish them to be. For everyone else, the combat pets will appear how they do currently, or in any way Blizzard wishes them to appear.

When I am playing my warlock, it irritates me that my demons are much smaller when compared to the many demons we have faced. Recently they added a summonable Pit Lord for warlocks, however, it looks so tiny that one would laugh at it rather than be intimidated by it. Client-side sized combat pets would of course not only apply to warlocks, but to any class that can summon them, such as hunters, shamans, death knights, mages, etc.

I see no reason as to why this would not be implemented, as many other games already include this feature, including WoW’s biggest competitor Final Fantasy XIV. This feature would also allow Blizzard to make combat pets even smaller for better visual clarity in grouped content, without upsetting the players that control them.

I know for some this might sound like a trivial thing to work on and implement, but I can assure you that for many people, including myself, this would be a very welcome change that would increase our fun and immersion when playing this game.

If you wish to see client-side sized combat pets implemented in WoW, please consider leaving a comment to grab Blizzard’s attention. If you are reading this and you can post on the American forums, consider doing so as Blizzard is more likely to look at American forums than here. Thank you.

wait warlocks now have summonable pit lords?:open_mouth:

I don’t see the point then to introduce resizing of the pets if I, as a monk, see them at regular size or the way blizzard wishes. If say in pvp, I wont be intimidated and our already oversized crotch stare raid bosses would simply see them as roaches anyway.

I will get irritated if oversizing is allowed and I am able to see this anyway. I will be forced to have to contend with oversized pets polluting my screen in group content.

I think the way they are is for that purpose, but will have no problem if its ONLY the player see their oversized pet.

They can indeed, it is through a spell called Gul’dan’s Ambition, available to Demonology Warlocks. Sadly, they look very tiny. With client-side sized pets, the player would be able to make the pit lord look much bigger if they wished to do so, while not affecting other players’ visual clarity whatsoever.

The concept of baby pets is kinda wasted on you by the sounds of it. They are supposed to be ‘likkle’. I mean Sticks wouldn’t be Sticks if he looked like a proper tree now would he. Pets is cute so I really wouldn’t want to change it.

The clue is in the name by the way… like Flayer Youngling, Baby Ape, Fledgling Nether Ray. Imagine making a Flayer Youngling full size. Sounds like what they do in Final Fantasy is bonkers.

PS My silver tabby is actually the correct size for a cat, but then he’s been with me since 2008 way before pets came along. The cat refers to my warlock minion as blue thing and thinks he’s an idiot. He’s not wrong. Blue thing… so funny.

I thought everyone could summon pets.

Client-side sized pets would mean you can resize your pets however you wish and ONLY YOU would see them in that manner. If you want them to remain how they are now, you can do so. If you would want them to be bigger or smaller than that, you could do so as well. This would be an option that any player can choose to use or completely ignore. It does not affect how the pets are seen by anyone else.

From a gameplay perspective, it makes sense that the pets are small, however, when I summon these large and intimidating demons, I want them to look just like that, at the very least from my perspective. You can choose to make them appear however you want.

I think this is a great idea. It has no impact on other players and I’d welcome it on my hunter.

You must have misunderstood what this thread is about. As I explain in the original post, I am talking about combat pets, the ones that classes such as warlocks and hunters use in combat.

But you never mention combat pets or minions as I call them, you refer to client-side pets which is a strange term. Forgive me but all pets can be summoned in this game which is what I do. My Warlock summons a demon or minion, not sure I have ever referred to them as pets. A mage summons a combat water elemental … pets are more related to Battle Pets so you appraciate my thinking that’s what you were on about. Read your ‘opening’ post again and you will see.

If you spend your talents right, after the portal colapses on Demonolgy it will summon a Pitlord, yes
Not actually a summonable Pitlord, but a Pitlord nontheless that fights for you for a lil time

I can see how it can be confusing. Many people, including myself, call combat pets just pets, but I know that pets can also refer to battle pets. I will edit the original post to say combat pets instead of just pets, to avoid any further confusion in the future.

Hunter has a glyph for that. So yes indeed. Warlocks should be given a glyph about it. I used it for flying pets and the Corehound.
