I started playing classic on era realms a couple of weeks ago, and recently found out that there were 6 phases way back when classic was “re”-released.
When reading about phase 6, Naxxramas and The Scourge Invasion it seemed like this phase would have changed the world somehow (physically). Can anyone help me with figuring out if this is the case… did anything change physically from one phase to another and if so what changed? New mobs? Was the floating necropolis/citadel there before?
I’ve searched and searched but can’t find anything concrete. And I’m asking because if anything very obvious or very noticeable changed that would, in my opinion, change the classic experience.
The citadel in the air spawned during the event, and it kept flying / floating in EPL after event was long time over, and is probably still up (literally).
A few extra mobs was introduced (mostly in instances), but as such very limited impact on the world.
Thank you so much. So before the event, The Scourge Invasion, you wouldn’t look up in EPL, see something big floating/flying and think to yourself… “What’s that? I wonder if I can get in there?”
And the event, introduced the raid instance, right? (Sorry for the noob questions )
But was the Scourge in the plaguelands before the event?
The citadel first appeared at the Naxx opening - together with the opening events. EPL was already filled with scourge, that was not changed in patch 1.12.
The Naxx event contained some event quests which took place in some “hot spots”, located in random zones in Azeroth, and despawned when the quest objectives was done (alll mobs killed).
Technically the instance was there all the time (the building housing the raid portal), but the raid portals itself were not enabled yet.
