Good for you. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
But objectively speaking it has no business being in WoW.
And I sincerely hope that Blizzard won’t be using this stuff outside of this particular zone. Ever again.

Is that actually objective or just your opinion tho?
I hope drive gets the dragon flying treatment and becomes something that works everywhere with every mount
as long as you can toggle per mount then sure but they have ruined flying for me atm with not being per mount.
Well; a game is made with a certain set of parameters and that appeals to a certain demographic. Right? I think we can agree on that?
Adding a completely different game within your exisiting game, with its own unique parameters is a very risky thing. If it’s too overbearing, not well implemented, or many other reasons; you risk making your existing playerbase angry and alienating them. After all; they started to play your game because of its original parameters.
Now; inevitably a game such as WoW is going to have its parameters change somewhat over time. A lot of things change in 20 years. And that is mostly fine; as long as those changes still fit within the wider scope of your game.
DRIVE is something different altogether. WoW is not a racing game. WoW is not a GTA style game. I haven’t even tried it and I hate the entire idea of it. I hate it so much I will quit if I’m forced to partake in it. I am deadly serious.
I don’t.
First of all; this system is so specifically made for cars (or other motorized ground vehicles, I suppose) that it really would not fit any of WoW’s other types of mounts.
But also just the whole idea behind it. I do not want travel to be a minigame. I really, really don’t. I do not enjoy such things.
I do not enjoy skyriding either, but at least with that system there’s a modicum of ‘relaxation’ where you just float along. That’s not the case with something like DRIVE. At all.
Well I think it’s far enough away from actual racing games and wacky enough to be in wow.
It’s a mini game.
And I do understand that you and others don’t like it.
Just like skyriding it’s something very different to what we had before.
It would be best if they do it like Álaric just said and make it a toggle per mount both for both skyriding and eventually drive.
I think it would be incredibly funny to race around with my pony. The whole skyriding thing also doesn’t all mounts.
They should stopp making us reearn stuff like the old flying so everyone can have a choice how they like to travel.
I think if drive would be everywhere and with all mounts I would probably start to travel on the ground again (as long as that is the terrain allowed that ofcourse)
We’ll have to agree to disagree on that then.
Again; agree to disagree.
For me it would be incredibly immersion breaking. Not only to do it myself (which I would never do), but also just to see someone riding around like that. I really don’t want that.
What it mainly comes down to: I don’t trust Blizzard to make this 100% optional.
I just don’t. They have always forced us into their new systems.
And this is just a case for me of; one step too far.
I will not accept it.
That is a very good argument.
The way they took away slow flying so everyone had to use dynamic flight is bs.
That’s why I think this can only work if it’s actually optional.
But that’s an argument I am really tired of.
That’s a taste thing and it comes up all the time in different topics.
I don’t like pandas. I honestly think they are the worst race we ever got until we got dracthyr but I would never want them to not be there because I don’t like them
I get that. But I can’t help how I feel.
I’m going to HATE seeing ugly karts ride around in the zone. It’s going to annoy me.
I’m not going to be able to avoid them by flying, because Blizzard removed that choice there (going back to my comment about forcing us into their new systems)
I know that’s a ‘me’ problem. But if I’m not going to pay for their game anymore because of it, I’m making it Blizzard’s problem (hopefully).
It just makes me angry that they’ve dedicated time and resources to something like DRIVE. I get Shadowlands vibes all over again, thinking; what the hell are they doing?! Have they lost their minds?!
I might be overreacting and be ‘fine’ with it once I get used to it, but I don’t think that’s actually a healthy way to approach a gaming experience. “Oh, once I get used to not being happy, it’ll be fine.” This is a game. I should be having fun, not dreading the upcoming experience.
Overal I get the feeling that this patch is going to be one of their least succesful ones - throughout WoW’s entire run. For different reasons; some people don’t like the whole goblin aesthetic, some people are sick and tired of being underground, DRIVE, TWW’s story, etc etc. Issues are beginning to pile up for a good number of players. I was positive for a long time about TWW, but I’m starting to feel the destructive nature of many of their design choices.
Maybe it’s time for a break for me, regardless of this horrible new system. Blizzard need to feel their customers not being happy. Complaining only goes so far. Stop paying and maybe they’ll really listen. That’s where I stand at the moment.
Same here.
I kept waiting for something to make me excited or happy ,but so far its getting worse and worse.
More underground, goblins are not my cup of tea either,my Dh is worse,no flying, now Drive which really kills my fantasy feeling and breaking the immersion.
So yeah I am in the same boat.
My sub runs out on the 5th of march, so I won’t have a chance to really give season 2 a good try. So I’m giving them 1 month more. But after that it’s very likely that I’m going to take a break and come back when they do/release something that actually makes me excited again.
PS: I just realized all of this is entirely off topic for this thread. Sorry.
My only experience was SWTOR. I think they kind of nailed it - you could choose different planets and therefore different vibes, and could collect all manner of customisations and trophies. You could also invite guests etc. Even their guild homes (ships) were really well executed.
I’m concerned WoW so far looks like a very watered down version of this - only the capital cities, only human and orc styling, and even neighbourhoods all sounds a bit odd. It would be a shame if they ended up with a worse system next year than SWTOR implemented years ago with1/10 the players!
SWTOR’s housing originally launched with only 3 options: Coruscant for the Republic, Dromund Kaas for the Empire and a neutral choice on Nar Shaddaa.
More choices will be added. WoW’s version can’t launch completed; it will be an evergrowing system.
With that said: I do think WoW should launch with a third, more neutral, neighbourhood.
I love racing games, I play a lot of them, for a while I had a proper wheel and pedals set up for sim racing.
However I haven’t had a satisfactory answer of why WoW needs to become a weird version of Forza Horizon.
You can’t really have a discussion about player feedback without the people who don’t want player housing giving their feedback.
Personally I think this is the first sign of the end of WoW.
I will certainly be giving my feedback with my Wallet when it launches.
Naah, I hope this is reserved especially for limited car and bike mounts. Having only seen players streaming and not tried it myself, would look kinda silly if you added it to ground mounts.
That’s not true.
It’s happening. Period.
So we’re discussing what we’d like this system to be or contain.
There is no discussion whether or not it should exist; It’s happening.
Here in my row of priority.
*Additional Ashenvale&Quel’thalas Housing places.
*At least one house per character
*Being able to let us decie which of our favourite mounts should be strolling on the housing ground
*Option to designate for our character(s) standing in their home and maybe even doing some certain selected actions for immersion.
*Neutral housing zones in Booty Bay and Pandaria.
Personally I immersion my characters from where they would live and what they would do in their houses. Given how gear is temporary I have roleplay as my main content and those points are still missing beside what is already teased for my desire. Because I play 16 orcs and Blood Elves and this way I can continue playing and let their homes slowly naturally evolve.
Especially for my Blood Elves which are kinda a big family I would love to make them a big family mansion.
Please point out where I made a statement claiming it was truth that it wouldn’t happen.
I’m just giving feedback that it should be abandoned.
Honestly, it’s nothing but a betrayal to WoW’s players. They have wasted so much on this system whilst we have had to suffer a bad game.
What they should do is offer Playerhousing as a paid DLC for those who want it, separate to the base game and standard expansions. That way those of us who want to enjoy WoW the way we have done, can completely ignore it.
Shouldn’t. I said:
Just like DRIVE is happening, no matter how much I hate it and don’t want it in WoW.
And it won’t be. So your feedback is useless.
I will not engage with your posts further.
If you want to complain, I suggest making your own thread.
It’s not useless at all.
Blizzard need to hear that the player base is divided over this.
