Can’t wait to ponder my orb
I plan on building Stallnorth Manor and if it ends up being the only player home for that character so be it. I have built up that manor in IC stories and in Role-play that I will end up making it the only massive player housing I have.
So, at present, I’ll definitely want;
A house for Kaytlinne
A house for my Nelf Hunter
A house for my Worgen Rogue
A house for my old Orc Shaman
A house for my Goblin-
-and the rumbling about ‘One house per faction, so two per account’ going on in another bluesky thread has me doing the Steve Carrell “Don’t. Don’t you dare…” meme.
The above are at LEAST, I will not be denied gods damn it all…
Guess I’m diving into professions. Hopefully some PvP achievements reward some trophies as well.
Not the “here’s a shiny cup” type trophies - I’m talking a pile of gnome skulls, tastefully inscribed with pet names for their former owners. You know, a proper conversation piece when you have the neighbours over for an iron ale!
So we finally have confirmation on how many houses we’ll get to have. As of the plans right now, it will be one Alliance and one Horde home per account.
Not personally a huge fan of that decision, but I’ll cross my fingers that restrictions are loosened a little over time.
Ooof… I hope so. This makes me a sad GM.
Although at least this will let me focus on making a good home for The Guild of Thieves rather than flittering around half-arsed on alt-housing.
A disappointment, but hopefully one that’s not permanent. We’ll see.
Shame, seems I will make a Night Elven and Nightborne house then, and my Thalassian Elves will stay homeless!
Giving us unlimited houses would be an insane strain on the servers… But I would like to have the ability to have at least more than two.
If that’s through suitably thematic neighbourhoods in the future, or through a gold sink or anything similar like that, I feel like 2 is very limiting.
If I could import/export layouts of furniture, that would be another thing entirely, but a suitable stop-gap for not having several houses in various neighbourhoods.
-Drags some of the PVP and other servers to the Altar-
It’s fine, Im sure we can make things work!
Been catching up on housing news! While I too hope it’ll eventually be 1 house per housing district, for now I’m not salty it’s only 1 house per faction. I think it’s a good starting point for such a huge and completely new feature, and pushes people to be more precious about the 1-2 buildings they have, instead of just throwing a bookcase and a stool in one before moving on to the next, and the next. It’ll be more interesting to visit people’s houses this way when the feature goes live.
I mostly wonder now about the player number requirement to set up a private neighbourhood. And, in a video footage I saw the Horde district seemingly includes a bit of Ashenvale in it, and in the Alliance neighbourhood we saw bits of night elven building style in the background. Doubt we’ll get night elven outdoor aesthetic for the first Eastern Kingdom district, which maybe leads some players to create a home for their nelf in a Horde district instead since you can access your home on all your characters. But could one invite other people from the Alliance over to visit though? On one hand, they seem intent on keeping some kind of faction separation with the neighbourhoods, yet on the other hand they’ve become increasingly lenient about crossfaction gameplay with your friends
And then there’s the question if one could use Alliance building exterior options in a Horde district or vice versa.
In one of the videos, it was mentioned that rooms have varying shapes, including L-shaped ones. Depending on how many rooms you can place in a house (the video had 9, I´ve also seen number 10 thrown around), you could create multiple areas within your house that might be some places “elsewhere”.
Technically you could put a tiny entrance room into your house that “OOCly” leads to multiple sections, one being interior of your actual house and the others being either some places for events or other areas important for your character(s).
Interesting thing I´ve noticed is that there were blood elven interiors available for players to use, even though they only had Alliance zone accessible. While this could have been a testing scenario, I don´t think Blizzard would want to limit us based on faction when it comes to interiors. So, even if you reach your interior limit in your Alliance house, there may not be anything stopping you from just creating more Alliance-coded interiors within your Horde house. In terms of exterior, I suspect it will be limited based on faction, seeing orc house in Elwynn would feel weird.
For everyone who was initially worried about the “Item Limit” as well. All the previews and streamers so far showing off their builds, Bellular confirmed, only got to around 2,000/10,000 and most of those houses already looked absolutely stacked so I don’t think anyone need worry.
Hypothetically even if you had 2 Houses, 1 for each faction, and you wanted an equal split between them: that’s still 2.5x more items you could add to just one of the houses if you really, really needed it. Though from looking at the previews it really doesn’t seem necessary.
Feels weird in Ashenvale aswell, but from what I understood the Horde’s neighbourhood includes a bit of Ashenvale… ![]()
To answer OP, at this point I’ll probably be content to have a small-looking house on the outside, massive on the inside, with a room dedicated to the theming of each of my alts.
Now, if I could get a houseboat we’d be cooking with propane and propane accessories.
I’m thinking haunted bookshop.
I’ll make something for the wife and i in a guild neighbourhood and the wife will probably make something public so it’s reachable for potential new guildies.
Knowing a bit more about what we´ll have, the old plan of “just some small Stormwind house” feels a bit inadequate. My current idea is to do blood elven mansion in Horde area, see if I can create illusion of exterior in huge room, to replicate the look of elven homes where there are plenty of balconies.
In my Alliance house, I will try to do a street in Mage Quarter. Syelia´s backstory is being from family that moved from Dalaran to Stormwind before Third War and ended up becoming owners of multiple shops in Mage Quarter, which is unfortunately very difficult to properly portray as this quarter also happens to be a bit sparse when it comes to suitable buildings.
Also, going with the street theme, perhaps another street of another district with a small chapel in it. Having read book about Byzantine Empire few months ago, what struck me a lot was the sheer absurd volume of churches and monasteries in Constantinople. Coming from my personal experience too, living in a village with multiple churches and monasteries, Stormwind having only one big church always felt a bit weird. Even if I don´t end up ever using it in RP, it would be a nice creative outlet.
I plan to build so much for the Inn… I can’t wait to change furniture around for different holidays, perhaps make a stage or a brawling ring.
I am thinking of a community space as well for Gilneas.
Sure would be great if someone were to build a Temple of Elune for all the Priestess of Moon meetings that happen fairly regularly.
