So why did you even mention it ?
Wow was developed in the US, it cost US prices to make it. So Blizzard are justified charging prices based on that cost.
If WoW had been developed in Turkey using Turkish developers, Turkish tech and Turkish wages then there would be a case for having a lower sub, but everyone should then be charged that sub.

You telling me there are people that spend an ENTIRE week playing WoW each month?
If you adhere to the blind faith commonly found in “patriotism” perhaps…

kinda cringe bro, egocheck urself first.
If you make less than 2 mill a year you shouldn’t consider urself a worthy member of society in the first place = )
I know people that play 8 hours a day, that’s 240 hours a month.
However, I used 160 hours as that was the figure used by the poster I was answering (40 hours a week)
yikesssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I average about 54 hours a week playing WOW which is around 234 hours a month. Based on this, my subscription works out at about £0.03 per hour.

Why is there so much discussion of history and politics in a discussion about currency values and sub fees?
Fellow videogamers are not responsible for their governments.

Because it is the fault of the Turkish government that has caused the Turkish economy to crash multiple times.
This causes the exchange rate between Turkish Lira and Euro to fluctuate quite considerably.
This coupled with low wages of the Turkish people means some months they technically could end up paying more one month than the last month due to the exchange rate change. This also means they could also end up paying the same or slightly less, but that doesn’t change that wages are quite low in Turkey so less disposable income due to cost of living not always being in line with wages.
They’re not, but because a government has ruined the countries economy and kept wages low, shouldn’t mean those gamers get special treatment.
I guess that is up to the beancounters to decide if they want to get less money per sub or no sub at all from some countries.
I think there were special lower prices for videogames in Venezuela/Argentina (I cant remember which one). In their case it is again their own governments who effed them up.
This debate comes up multiple times a month for the last Elune knows how many years. It’s not going to change.
Blizz won’t create a special pricing in one country with access to the EU servers as all other countries that play on the EU servers will want a reduced sub.
The only way to do it would be to create Turkish own servers where Turkish players can pay lower subs but have no access to the EU servers.
This is how it works in Russia with the exception of Battlegrounds AFAIK
I’d say Venezuela as their economy and currency crashed a few years ago and they had to re-decimalise their currency overnight.
I had to deal with a complaint in my job over it (Work in financial services)
They might or they might not. In either case they won’t make that decision based on threads in GD forums.

Imagine going to a currency converter at say an airport and being like “yeah I know my month wages isn’t worth a lot in USD but like… I worked really hard for it so could you pretend it’s equal to a months wages here?”
That’s not how it works.
You’re asking Blizzard to solve poverty and national trade. It can’t be done.
Very true.
I wish they would just make a statement and then close all these threads when they pop up each week
Thank you for your insight. Financial systems are not my strong suite here as a Biologist.
You’re welcome.
They basically knocked a load of zeros off the end of their currency to make it work.

Here’s something to think about, I live in the UK and for health reasons I can not work so have to rely on benefit payments.
My benefit payments are roughly the same as the average salary in Turkey and I can afford my WoW sub.

Answer to you all your questions can be found in this thread.
And you clearly dont understand the word “perceived”.
Have a good day.
I had one question.
That was, what logic did you use to say that someone paying more for less was better value ?
You’ve refused to answer that simple question and thrown up a lot of straw man arguments to evade the answer.
By the way, minumum wage was equal to 284€ when this thread was created, currently it is equal to 269€.
Hahaha, apparently people lost 1 month already because of currency devaluation. Keep farming them golds I guess . No discount can save you.
