Every tier has a unique set for each class other than T9, which is still unique to armor class and separated by colours depending on class/role. So yes this 100% counts for WOTLK, I can tell if you’re a dps warrior using DK offset shoulders, leather gloves with crafted boots/belt etc, I can tell what weapon you’re using and what raid it’s from, or if it’s from PVP.
I don’t even need to inspect you to tell what gear you’re using in WOTLK, the only excessive use of recolours/models is from the heroic mode loot, but we know that it’s questing/heroic mode loot by looking at you. Personally I think the T8 and T10 sets are among the most iconic in wow for lots of classes.
I don’t know what to make out of this. You care so much about how players look at you that you want to gatekeep the look of other players to feel special? What kind of Ego do you have?!
I love the look of my retail character and other players making their own cool set doesn’t take anything away from it.
It is even more strange since when you loot gear from the current content, less advanced players don’t have it, both with or without transmog. So you get your “cool” new gear and unique look. All transmogs allows is to it keep old gear relevant. It has no effect on the availability of new gear (different raid difficulty do that, that’s a whole other topic).
PS: i’m on the side of “let them have transmog, but with a option in interface to hide transmog”. It makes everybody happy, and I don’t see how one can be against it. But tbh i don’t care at all about transmog in classic.
I am very much in favour of having transmog as a toggle. I believe that character customization is a big part of RPGs and we have very little agency over our appearences in Classic World of Warcraft. I also don’t think that this impacts the gameplay at all, but if you think it does, well… if you get a toggle would my barbie doll house impact your experience in any way at all?
Absolutely dumb argument that literally the game itself proves you wrong when half of your gear cant even be seen and the other half shares model with 15 other things …
Good luck guessing if that druid in cat has pvp or pve offparts … topkek
You are referring what happened in retail? Vaguely, I probably wasn’t playing at the time. But I somehow recall that it was removed because they wanted to add more animations to the game and that it was tricky to get it to work with the old model skeletons. And I suppose that’s the reason they were removed.
I don’t think it makes for a 1:1 comparison in this regard. As I see it, transmog is purely cosmetic. There are those who prefer the cosmetic aspect of visual progression and those who prefer the cosmetic aspect of being able to control one’s appearence and a toggle would please both camps. I am very, very much in the latter category. So much so that I will forego small upgrades if I deem items too ugly or mismatching for my outfit. It sucks to get an upgrade that’s in direct violation to one’s overall appearance.
For those that do care it’s an enormous time sink, keeps old content relevant and it’s great for player retention. These things should be beneficial to you even if you don’t were to play with the toggle off.
I’m sure you think the argument is dumb because you disagree with it, and I think you’re dumb for being so offended that I don’t want a non-classic feature in classic.
Topkek indeed, if you want to play barbie go play retail.
I agree, and whilst we’re at it, can we also get flying in Azeroth?
Also, Pandaren added wouldn’t go amiss. And throw in the heart of Azeroth as well for good measure.
Is there a downside to having a toggleable transmogrification?
Let’s forego #nochanges for a while and consider things that they can do that will have an overall positive effect on the game without affecting the gameplay whatsoever. Back in TBC and in WLK there was quite the demand for so called “vanity slots” – and now we exist in an already altered version of TBC and soon-to-be even more altered version of WLK and we know what vanity slots in WoW could look like.
You think transmogrification is one of the worst things WoW implemented? Fine, then toggle it off. Would it still somehow harm your experience to know that others are getting enjoyment out of their Barbie dollhouse? Or is it rather the awareness of that when you get an ugly item you know you could just get rid of it? Is suffering from ugly/mismatched items part of the “Classic” experience?
These are genuine questions. I get that people may oppose vanity items, but we’re talking cosmetics here. I don’t see how transmogrification harms the gameplay whatsoever, in fact I see it as something that might actually boost the social aspect of the game and make players more involved in the world which are both key tenets of “that Classic feel”. Because hunting for cosmetic items will cause players to re-explore areas of the game that would otherwise remain ghost zones. Not just raids, but quest rewards as well. Not to mention it might prove to be an enormous gold sink – which seems to be sorely needed.
I thought Titanforging same models normal and HM and Mythic+ clones of items with slightly more stats each season did that.
If you thing applying an illusion breaks a feeling of earing something I can comment only that transmog is purely optional. You can wear your unmogged unmatching clow gear set with pride if earning new item looks if you want to, nobody is restricting you from doing so.
Could you elaborate what damage are you talking about? That people are not running around in mismatching off set pieces like clowns? (well, some still are, but not everyone, like in TBCC) For me it is improvement, not vise versa.
If new tier is good loking I would rather mog it, despite everyone having it, like with т18 mythic resto shaman set pieces I had back in Draenor.
If transmog visibility could be turned on/off on other players, everyone would be satisfied.
