Remove horde and alliance merge them and then let me join Twilight’s Hammer i want to see everything end.
We already have that
They are called the Forsaken, her own personality cult
To be fair atleast the pre cata forsaken have an excuse to follow her so blindly.
For then she is the one that saved them from being part of the shambling mindless horses of the scourge and then from being killed by the scarlets.
I guess that makes you pretty loyal
But that is the magician’s trick, isn’t it?
The Forsaken broke free of their master’s iron will. Every Undead had to do it themselves, no mommy Sylvanas stood there patting their back ,you can do it son!
If you are a Forsaken you were either lucky or strogn willed enough to be free
Literally any of them could have been their leader, Sylvanas was just the strongest beeing Arthas personal elite and plaything and when the Lich King’s grasp started to loosen unlike Kel’Thuzad - who originally before SL was a friend, mentor and maybe even father figure in a twisted way to Arthas and loyal to him - she turned against their “King/Prince”
YES! I’m saying this for years… WoW lost its soul story-wise when it became Peacecraft. From the very beginning, the core of the story is about factions and their struggle in Azeroth. I’m not against periods of peace, where we unite against the bigger baddie, but the story became super narrow with little to no interesting side content.
I mean I want to see gray-ish and evil characters on both factions, characters like Garrithos, Garrosh that do questionable stuff which creates tensions between Horde and Ali, but also between the races among the factions itself.
In other words, there is absolutely space for both faction and race and even class specific quests. Which would increase the replayability of the game X times. Why are we not getting that is probably money/time reason, because its just cheaper to produce one storyline for everyone.
Keep in mind, that what I suggest doesn’t go against allowing both factions to do dungeons/raids/bgs together.
So you’re crosshair fanboys and fangirls?
There’s just one problem, doing dungeons/raids/bgs/guilds together doesn’t make a lick of sense if the two factions are still openly at war, removing faction barriers is due to a gameplay concern (Faction imbalance so severe that it’s unfixable), whereas “World of peacecraft!” is just a gut feeling from some people who can’t let go of the past.
I’m a what now?
crosshair from the bad batch. Good soilders follow orders
I don’t know bad batch but yes “good” soldiers follow orders that’s the joke I wanted to make
Thats not a problem at all.
Factions can be at war with each other, each having their own storyline trying to get the upper hand over the other. While YOU as an individual can be more free minded and cooperative with the other faction. Thats something that happens in real life and also happened in the game’s lore already.
From game design/development perspective, I absolutely understand the reason why they are unifying the factions into one. But there are plenty of other solutions to faction imbalance and other stuff.
So long story short, why do u think u can’t kill a few gnomes in the morning, and then going with your gnomish friends to a Raid after dinner?
It also makes sense from a story standpoint. Why be constantly at each others throat when we have to fight the same big bad all the time? Every reasonable leader would push for a truce.
I honestly can’t imagine a more boring and stupid plot than artificially keeping up active hostility of two factions who have had to band together again and again over decades to fight for their very existence. Genuinely, it’s so dumb to just keep going back to fighting each other after learning about all the active cosmic threats who couldn’t care less about some petty squabbles.
You not being able to imagine something doesn’t mean something isn’t possible, would’ve been nice if you (and others you’re not the only one doing this) actually tried to take part in the discussion rather then kick down the door while screaming ‘feel bad for liking what I don’t like’
Or sorry, you didn’t say bad, just boring dumb and stupid.
You don’t have to feel bad for liking what I don’t like. Never even as much as suggested anythig of the sort. I also didn’t say it’s impossible. I meant exactly what I said, nothing more and nothing less.
You however seem quite upset that I dared to disagree with the notion in the OP to the point of putting words in my mouth just to have something to whine about.
Is it not equally boring to just simply beat the world ending threat repeatedly in 1 patch. Having a narrative that prolongs the struggle is much better than “phew, we beat the bad guys again let me put down my plot armour & sit in stormwind until next patch”.
Let me tell you as a Horde player that I have not read 1x single thing any Alliance hero has said through their dialogue in TWW. I don’t care about doing quests for Alliance heroes, nor do I want to. I picked the Horde because I love the Horde’s story, its races, cultures & virtues. Why do I want to help Jaina who massacred the Sunreavers, killed King Rastakhan & many other innocents in Zuldazar. I’d like to think my character would sooner put a blade to her neck than help her in any way whatsoever, alas I am forced to for the sake of the main plot & because people get upset when there’s a war.
I dunno man when you’re doing quests for Khadgar, Jaina & Dagran as a Horde player it sure feels like it.
BFA did fine with this really, Blizzard put their neck out & took some big steps to change the world as we knew it and it was refreshing to see a consequence of action for once & not just the stale world that’s been the exact same since cataclysm. Introducing new characters, changing old zones, getting rid of others brings new life to the game and is simply just one side of the coin that’s integral to the universe.
At this point I’m open to a third faction that is war-mongering and evil. Anything to get me away from having to do quests for the Alliance as a Horde player.
Changes that were made for gameplay do not directly correlate to lore, the class changes are a good example of this. Man’ari demons being allowed as a race customization, Lightforged Death Knights/Warlocks f.e
This is the most pandaren take ive ever seen
Yeah crazy that the Forsaken fight for the only person that stood up for them.
I honestly can’t imagine a more boring and stupid plot than artificially keeping up active hostility of yet another cosmic, world ending threat that dies easily in 1 patch.
Do you now? Okay, i’ll bite, what solution to faction imbalance (That the professional game developers haven’t come up with yet) do you have then?
Considering your brilliant alternative is the same two factions butting heads for 30 years, this is not the gotcha you might have thought it is.
Also, name one cosmic threat that unraveled and ended all within a single patch. The closest you might get is N’zoth and you’d still be way off.
The alternative is to have story driven by relative narratives & not simply 180’ing everything, there’s nothing more immersion breaking than “yeah we timeskipped and now we all fly on dragons together”. Where is Talanji seeking justice for her father & the innocents killed in Dazar’alor? Why did Thrall just forgive Jaina for genociding Sunreavers? Why did the Forsaken just give back Gilneas despite it being a strategically terrible move considering its on the doorstep of Lordaeron & the Greymanes abhor the Forsaken. This in itself is the most unbelievable part of WoW’s story so far and simply shows the NPCs for what they are, there’s no depth to any character anymore, its the same whitewashed stuff that shows us these characters are utterly devoid of conscious thought & are simply NPCs.
As I stated above, conflict & struggle changes the world. BFA saw changes to Lordaeron, Teldrassil, Darkshore, invasions in the new zones we were questing in & added depth to the NPCs who had to make actual important decisions, it gave us feelings of emotion when Genn tells Anduin they’ll be calling up farmers, when Sylvanas gave the order to fire upon Teldrassil & the quest that had us try to save the civilians. If you watch an adventure film where nothing bad ever happens & nobody ever has to make important decisions that affects others it’d not be a very good film. Imagine Lord of the Rings without Orcs & Goblins, with no Nazgul or the witch king… It’d be a terrible story.
Azeroth needs the conflict, even if its not the main focal point of the story. People have been repping factions since day 1 & to suddenly just be told “nah sorry u cant hate anything anymore because we all love each other now” is absolutely the most unappealing part of the modern WoW story. Every major threat is easily defeated, we’ve never seen factions struggling like we did in BFA. Its infinitely more interesting to explore the clash of ideals, customs & beliefs of each race/faction what with the races being such an integral part of WoW in itself than to simply tar them all with the same brush and have them work together. Some are more prone to violence, some are bent on revenge, some have a mortal enemy, some just want to see the living burn - why must we divert from the nature of the races that people originally fell in love with all those years ago.
As for your name one threat question, literally every raid tier ever.
