The vanilla world is not suited for flying.

So many mysteries are there in the form of otherwise unreachable places, which would totally get ruined by flying mounts. Not to mention that flying mounts in general are a immersen killer, for me atleast. You dont see people cause the mfers are just dawdling about in the air.

I do agree to a certain degree.

What do you think of the idea with different functionalities for PvP vs. PvE realms?
We could add RDF to the pool - but for which type?

I’d suggest no Classic Plus at all. Classic Plus is a terrible idea.

Nobody can agree what it even is or what it should consist of - but even if they did trusting modern Blizzard to make what’s essentially a brand new WoW client - well we should know what kind of thing we’re likely to get.

Basically retail but with a ā€˜Classic’ sticker shoved onto it.

That means all aspects of Retail will be shoehorned into their version of Classic Plus. WoW tokens, level boosts, cash shops, heirlooms, microtransactions of every kind. It will feature Retail-style quests and level design, all based on gimmicky mechanics and pop culture references, and made to be rushed through at absolutely breakneck speed where you’re shuttled from one zone to another on the back of a dragon with no possibility of slowing down to actually explore the world.

New raids will be ā€˜Retail-like’ as they’re designed by the same people, basically rhythm games where everyone dances around from one spot to the next with mechanics that feel like QTEs, full of loud, gaudy, flashing lights and effects. PvP will be an afterthought, hastily tacked onto the end because everyone forgot about it until three days before release.

In short, I don’t trust this lot to deliver anything even remotely approaching a ā€˜vanilla-like’ experience. It will be a ā€˜retail-like’ experience - because none of the current team have any real knowledge or experience of what made the old game so good.

I am of the opinion that any completely new iteration of classic wow will not be a good idea. Blizzard is very likely to mess it up. You have to keep in mind : they only care about their bottom line, this means storemounts etc.

Just look what they did with the most current retail patch. As i understand it ,it was released completely unfinished with plenty of bugs etc.

And in the same breath they had the brilliant idea to release a 75 USD cosmectic bunble for the housing feature, which im sure a lot of people bought. So you see, they dont even have to deliver a good product as long as their bottom line is safe and the quarterly earnings calls are a success.

I“m sure they plan on re-re-releasing the golden oldies if they dont see any other chance of retaining players.

Agree with all of it and neither do I trust them.

Sorry, I do not play Retail, and have not since BfA - no way I’m ever going there again.
I log in on my old account on a friend’s PC once a year to get the ā€œBirthdayā€ achivement, This experience is more that enough Retail for the coming year

Could we then pretty please have a TOTALLY NoChanges Vanilla? I’d pay double sub for this alone.

My suggestion of differentiated PvP/PvE servers could maybe make a good seasonal server … I do not really believe in Classic+ at least not as a thing I want to play.

No, as I said this was more about differentiated PvP and PvE servers than about flying, transmogrification, RDF, Tokens … whatever.

Flying I agree have no place in Classic at all.
Transmogging I’d really love. I use at least 6 bag slots for gear, and if I get attacked I cannot change into my fighting gear, often with a long corpse run as result of wanting to not look fugly while travelling.
The Furbolg rod is a Quest item, and using this for mere looks is not very Classic in my opinion, even worse than 'mogging actually. You’re not a Furbolg, never was, but the gear you have gotten, either as a drop or a Quest reward, you can have and use still.

Neither do I, but you inevitably hear about it if you watch Warcraft videos on Youtube.

What would that entail? I dont see the current changes to vanilla as bad tbh. Maybe the worldbuff stuff, but thats a player made problem

Instant mail = pretty good, who are we kiddin, hurts nobody,

dual spec = same

Flying was one of the worst inventions made in WoW.

On paper a good thing but in reality it made the world smaller and harder to meet people. And the addition of portals to anywhere made that even worse. Luckily you didn’t suggest that

Ideally servers with size as OG Vanilla progressing through all the original Vanilla patches at the original pace.
At least I would love a server totally free of all modern bugs and additions, FP markers and carets in minimap, wrong spell animations, new UI and loading screens, changed names, greyed out vendor prices, inability to buy more stacks at once, maps not closing bags, golden Quest helper arrows popping up now and then, ships cutting into the piers, hyperspawns in certain places, barrels of water missing in Stormwind … there’s literally hundreds of bugs, overflows and small changes.
And then the deliberate ones: dual spec, boons, get off FP arrow, even insta-mail (which I find maybe the less harmful and irritating of all the changes).

I’m fore transmog but against flying.

What i do would like to see is a few extra flyepoints in the world. I meen in some places there is alot of time spending to just runing for no perpes. I’s classic+ so there is no new world to discover. Even if you like to run around you can still do it.

Interesting. And I agree - partly. 'mogging I’m fine with - on PvE servers.
No flying would be fine indeed, and more FPs also – only not just more normal FP, but some you get as a reward for doing Quests in that area. For instance I’d like the burned down inn in Dustwallow Marsh almost on the border of the Barrens to be an Ally FP, which you only get after doing the questline there.

That sounds like a fun ide that you could get a FP by opened it by quests or rep.

transmog? go to retail and flying aswell

Nah. One of the top arguments that players enjoy classic more than all other versions of the game is that it have no flying and the world is so immersive because of that.

Also no transmog. Its too flashy. But they can do what turtle wow did. Like.. fell eyes, blind fold, more haircuts etc. Maybe glyphs can be a thing. Like dark ranger glyphs for Hunter. Green fire for warlock, etc.

Top arguments … but I do not agree. I do not think it’s the lack of flying (alone) that makes the world more immersive. It’s more the sum of the small tings like Quest items not glittering, Quests and FP not showing up in the mini-map, you have to use Beast Lore for Hunters to find the right pet to teach you the next level of ability, that you have to stock up on things while in town to survive … in short that you have to think, not the game is thinking for you.

Personal - not accound wide - transmog I would find much more Vanilla-like not the Ʀeast bit flashy. You got to earn it to 'mog it.

I don’t know what

is, but it sounds somehow MORE flashy to me than character bound transmogs.
Sorry, I never played any private server.

I mean.. anything that dont cover up items completely. Something is odd when someone looks flashy and powerful but he isnt.. you know?

Thats why I was thinking about something subtle, like eyes, tatoos, different colors, class glpyhs etc.

People who don’t want transmog keep forgetting how absolutely atrocious most gear combos look. I am currently levelling a Rogue on TBC and I look like a rainbow lollipop, it’s genuinely terrible to look it. Will gear look good at levelcap? No, it won’t, but it might go down to maybe three clashing colors instead of five. That char currently has pants on that no sane human artist would design - they’re bright green with a slight blueish tinge, which makes them look slimy. I am not sure how that ever got in the game.

Furthermore, transmog does absolutely nothing to gameplay - no downsides, all upsides. If you really want to push against it, keep it client-side only.

However, flying is unnecessary. A 100% mount is good enough for Vanilla world design, there’s no need to reduce travel times.

If you have the gear, you ARE that powerful. You can only 'mog gear, you have. Remember I say CHARACTER 'mogs, not account 'mogs.

Nothing subtle about red, glowing eyes
