Please DON'T release Cataclysm ,,Classic". Cataclysm it's not a Classic expansion, Cataclysm is a Hybrid expansion!

Don’t get me started on Crapaclysm… too late, I need to rant more.

Crapaclysm took every single thing that was good about World of Warcraft, trashed it, threw it into the junkheap, set fire to it, and urinated on it.

Crapaclysm is not an MMORPG, I’d personally say it’s not even a real MMO, but rather a multiplayer arcade looter shooter, with simple, dumbed-down mechanics.

The only purpose of content beyond raids is to serve as a brief, bland, pointless filler designed explicitly to funnel players into endgame in the fastest time possible, full of cringeworthy pop culture references, Disney-level cartoon puns and throwaway memes, all of which are raced through at breakneck speed without even once slowing down to get a handle on what’s happening.

Power creep is so rampant, outdoor mobs so profoudly nerfed that absolutely no care or attention is needed - simply race in at breakneck speed, AOE everything down in nanoseconds, and then run three yards back to the questgiver to fly to the next zone on the back of a dragon because you are now the CHOSEN ONE who has been selected by destiny to save Azeroth from… something or other…

The zones I got to know and love so well were ruined utterly, turned into crass, garish theme parks with endlessly battling NPCs pounding away at each other for all eternity. Beautiful, tranquil zones like Darkshore, The Barrens and Ashenvale ripped apart and ruined, with huge, gaping fissures… don’t even get me started on Azshara!

Yeah, sure, for a few days heroic dungeons were pretty fun - before Blizzard caved in to the: “Waaaaaaaaaaah we can’t AOE through this in four nanoseconds” brigade and nerfed them into oblivion, and that was the end of that.

Maybe the raiding in Crapaclysm was super fun? Maybe that’s why some people liked it? I have no idea, I never did any, I quit, utterly dissilusioned with the whole experience, because everything I loved about the game had been taken away. By this time my guild was all-but dead, with almost everyone having left in disgust. I was simply going through the motions, and paying for the privilege of spending most of my time in Outland farming old content for rep.

To the nethermost hell with Cataclysm! Trash my game again by forcing me to ‘upgrade’ and I’m out of here, and it will be permanent this time.

And yet here you are paying a subscription for a game you admit to hating.

Why?

Every time someone wrote “crapaclysm” a kid in Africa is starving.

Save a kid don’t write dumb names.

They will release Cataclysm because a lot of people want to play that excellent expansion. Current Classic WotLK is not a Classic expansion either, and most people would like to play other great expansions such as MoP or Legion.

Don’t you like Cataclysm? No problem, stay in Classic Era or keep farming ICC for 10 years.

You know what? 70-80% of the playerbase will move on to Cata and onwards.

It still has RPG elements, it’s still open world and you still meet and group up with people to clear stuff. So by defenition it is an mmo. You just don’t like all the changes they pushed through so subjective.

Both classes and raids are way more complicated in cata than in TBC for example, and don’t get me started on Vanilla where most casters just press 1 button and mobs or bosses just hit/cast hard and maybe have an aoe. So wrong again.

You can say the same about all other expansions. In Vanilla/TBC it just took a much much longer time and there was more danger in the world. Even in wrath when they introduced heirlooms it was so you could level alts faster to get into endgame.

Eh true enough, but not all zones are like that. They kinda went overboard with it, I grant you that, but pop- culture references started in Vanilla aswell, and not even a little bit. I suggest you read this:

This wasn’t in Cata so you are mistaken, since you’re all about leveling I’ll assume you’re talking about that mainly: during questing we are only adventurers still. End-game? Still not the commander(WoD)/chosen one(MoP?)/champion(Bfa)/highlord(Legion). This all started in WoD as the commander and maybe a bit during MoP as the agent of Wrathion.

I’m not the biggest fan of cata myself. After all these years I have developed a fondness for some of the zones - cape of stranglethorn and Western Plaguelands in particular (maybe because they offer great stories) but in general Cata ranks low on my list.

Blizz will make it though, you can bet everything on that, no matter how you rant and scream ‘cRaPaClysMMM!!8!’ on the forums. People ask for it and they are burning to buy the next deal from the shop /shrug. Not me, but it’s not hard to predict a lot of others will

I’m sure they’re already lamenting the loss that is your charming and positive personality on these forums.

Tough luck, that’s what I call it, get over it.

Such empathy to children’s.

Imo cataclysm is underrated. Class design was one of the best the game ever had (basically wotlk + 3 spells + quality of life changes). It was casual friendly. Raids were pretty decent. Sadly first 2 tiers were overshadowed by Dragon soul Raid which lasted for 35 weeks which was even longer than endless icc i believe. Also personally i like old world rewamp. Worgens are sick. Idk what to add for me it was perfect game till last tier.

I’m not going to debate the rest of your post, I posted a diatribe, based mostly on personal opinion. You disagree, fine.

But this last line - take a snapshot of all the WotLK forums, how many of posts are filled with sunny positivity, optimism and enjoyment of the game?

At least I aim to be entertaining, and at least I AM enjoying the game right now, which is why I don’t want it to change. At least I usually put some effort into my posts. You may loathe everything I type, and utterly oppose my every opinion, but at least I try to state them as well as I can.

What would you prefer to read? Endless posts about dying servers, endless arguments about RDF, endless complaints that the game is ‘boring’ and ‘dying’, endless posts about bots, endless posts about faction imbalance?

It’s not and opinion if you’re saying stuff like it’s factual, especially when the things you say are wrong.

I don’t loathe everything you type, for example I agree with you being against the zerg mentality and blizz wanting to change these classic expansions ‘just because’.

Well almost every post from you stating people being obsessed with end-game and raiding and you calling these engame activities 1% of the game is not my idea of a fun read either.

Quite a few actually, or at least threads that offer an open discussion. It’s just that you don’t reply there, or only to argue with people that don’t agree with the positivity.

If you look at my post history I’m a pretty positive person so I’m not too keen in ‘starting fights’. You don’t seem like one and you have even admitted to using strawman arguments to win discussions.
I’m well aware most of what you type is an opinion, and I’m fine with your opinion. I’m not fine with not respecting others and calling their opinions wrong, or crapping on the way people like to play.

Who cares if someone plays this game to raid? I assure you more people play the game that way this day and age than ever before. You like to quest, explore and take in the zones, all good, but I don’t call you a filthy casual for example.

The way you handle yourself in discussions is extremely aggressive, and I’m sure you want to come across like that. So don’t be surprised people don’t like you.

The only thing that made Classic Classic is that it was released in the past. Blizzard strangely decided to deem specially what Classic was. I’m still reeling from them saying RDF didn’t “feel classic”.

Lol, I’m the only one who doesn’t agree with the new dungeon finger system, it’s rediculous!

I qualified it as an opinion by adding: ‘I’d personally say it’s…’.

Then we’re like Ike and Mike, we think alike.

Am I so wrong? Look around you, forum posters are obsessesed with end game, it’s the core theme behind almost every topic.

Absolutely. It’s a very useful tool in my toolkit. I have many others, and I have absolutely no shame. I’ll use any and every dirty lowdown trick available to me when arguing with people. These tools are used for a reason, there is always a purpose behind me putting down a strawman gambit. I actually used one against you earlier when I wrote: ‘You may loathe everything I type, and utterly oppose my every opinion’. That was actually a double-up of straw man gambit coupled with applied hyperbole. It’s purpose was to make you take a step back and focus inward in order re-examine your own position; and by making the discussion briefly about you rather than Cataclysm it opens up new options that I might potentially exploit further down the line - if necessary.

But I have never called another person’s opinions wrong, neither have I ever ‘crapped on the way people like to play’. If something is clearly expressed as an opinion it remains in the realm of opinion, ergo it cannot be ‘wrong’. What I have done is challenge statements made by others that expressed opinions as if they were facts - you did it too in this very thread.

Now perhaps you’d care to find an example of me ‘crapping on the way people like to play’, and before you cherry pick some comment I made about person X focussing entirely on end game and nothing else, consider the context and my reasons for saying this - am I attacking their play-preferences, or am I attacking them because they are advocating a broader position that I oppose - such as calling for more boosts, defending pay to win etc? Am I using their focus exclusively upon end game as a means to underline their reasons for holding such views?

It only seems aggressive to you because you are filtering my posts through your own pre-conceived perceptions, assigning emotions and colour to my words where no such emotions exist. That said I have no interest whatsoever in being liked or popular. I am merely interested in defending the videogame I play from people who wish to change it into something it was never intended to be. If I come across as abrasive or confrontational when doing so, then so it must be. I am a minority voice on these boards, and am standing constantly against the tide of popular opinion. People who do this rarely tend to be liked by others.

No man there will never be the end of WOTLK, the Warmane is a pure example they have a server with almost every realm full, since 2009

Aslong as they ban or make pve items useless in arena, im happy.
So tired watching dragon-slayers do so much more dmg, simply beacause they killed something irrelevant (to pvp).
Even the lfr trinkets were huge in arena.

Not to mention FoF and dragonwrath!

Hey man people on Warmane farming ICC since 2009 with almost full servers, and they will be farmed for more and more years, and if you told me: So why do you play here instead on Warmane? Because Warmane is the cheapest imitation of the original one!
And if you remember well, I don’t want to feel the same pain like in 1 February 2015 when the server was hacked and all the database from the characters was deleted and almost all the achievements who I farmed for years, I lost just in a second, and in return for their failure they only gave us only 25 “Donor Coins” and what can you buy only with 25 coins, ONLY 1 item!? Аnd you lost а full bis character with almost every possible achievement from the game, and you need to start over and over, or if you play on the private server and the server gets low population because of the poor game scripts, and the server will start recruiting for a people and they will shut down it, and you will need to start finding a new private server, then you can start all over and over again, and the goal to get all the possible achievements progressions and everything will be impossible to get, that’s why I want the only Wrath of The Lich King Server to be here on Wrath Classic, so I will know that my character will be 100% guaranteed safe, and all the played progression on the character will stay forever! And at the end of the end, why do I pay 13$ subscription every month!? With the hope that my character will stay forever with my played progression in the game! Thanks

Ofc i saw, but at least they have no excuse.

Of course, that ICC will be farmed for 10 years and it will be for many many more, the Warmane is a clear example of it, they had almost every full server per realm since 2009, and remember Warmane it’s just the cheapest imitation of the original game. And if you ask me why you don’t play on Warmane then and don’t care about Wrath Classic!? Because I don’t want to feel the same pain like in 1 February 2015 when the server gets hacked and all the database from the characters was deleted, and I lost a character who I played for years just in a second, and in return for their failure they only gave me a 100 “Donor Coins”, and what can I buy with 100 Coins? Only 4 items? And you lost а full bis character with almost every possible achievement obtained in the game and you need to start playing over and over, or you play on another private server and they start getting a lower and lower population because of their poor game scripts, and they will start to recruit people, and they will shut down the server, so you need to start finding a new private server and you need to start play over and over again, and the goal to complete the full game progression and every achievement will be impossible! And at the end of ends why do I pay 13$ every month to Blizzard? With the hope that all my played game progression and achievements will stay here forever on Wrath Classic! Thanks!

After Cata release sub numbers went down, and it has nothing to do with classic.

When the old world is gone, then it’s not right to call it classic.

finally, the true reply “When the old world is gone, then it’s not right to call it classic.”
THATS my point that why Cataclysm is not a Classic Expansion!!!
