Like we used to do in Cataclysm.
Don’t force us to do those World Quests to unlock flying.

I always hated the tabard system. Made no sense in my opinion. I rather have certain dungeons drop items u can turn in for rep for a faction that has something to do with that Dungeon. Like underrot drops some blood troll insignia for high ranking blood trolls, and u can turn 10 of those for 100 rep or something for talaji’s expedition. And the insignia has a low droprate.
No, tabard is way better, or mobs just giving rep all the time.
YES! This random world-quest rubbish is entirely annoying af. I WANT control of where and how I earn rep, not with some garbage system where you simply do as you’re told.
Then you’d actually make progress in the game. For the sake of “Challenge”…
Can’t have that. There needs to be a reason for you to log on and everything needs to take forever to the point it’s never complete.
Keep in mind that reputation can serve different purposes, so a simple one-to-one comparison doesn’t always work.
More options is always good. In fact, I would like if the tabards worked in dungeons and bgs.
If the participation in world quests dropped as a result, that would just be prove it wasn’t a well designed system to begin with.
I mean, I like to be out in the world in mechagon, I would still like to have that option. They could make it so you have the tabard at friendly only, so people would at least try the wq.
The current design is bad because instead of being another option to choose from it has become mandatory content you have to do regardless of how much you like it.
Pretty much nailed it, well done.
I wish they’d let us get the rep tabards back at friendly and earning in dungeons of course add the clause only from current expansions dungeons so we can’t just run botanica for a bit till exalted.
In WoD I kind of preferred just grinding mobs for rep saberon etc…
It actually makes way more sense than not having a tabard.
Imagine some random guy in full armor killing all the baddies in the area and running off and you wouldn’t even know who they represented.
Added benefit of the tabard system is actually making dungeons relevant. Who even queues for normal/heroics?
I’d like this.
They replied to such suggestion in a Q&A, saying that reputations were outdoor content and they didn’t want you to farm outdoor content in instanced content. And i agree with them on this point, although it’s unrelated to flying and WQ in particular.
Imo rep tabard aren’t great by any mean. It just kills what’s left of outdoor content for no real benefit. Zones Reputation should be farmed within the zone one way or another, not in dungeons.
No it would not prove anything. People will always pick what is most efficient no matter if it is fun or not. So if suddenly everyon start farming rep in dungeons it would mean that this is path of least resistance and most efficient way to earn rep.
then give us mobs that give rep or drop items that can be turned in for rep, i’ll farm them all the day. But the time gate on wqs is a pain :c
The Ashen Verdict would like a word with you. Or the Avengers of Hyjal. Or many other instanced rep. Rep is not inherently outdoor content, rep is content where you do tasks for others to earn their trust. Which would impress you more if you were a tribesman, somebody getting rid of the blood god G’huun or his servants or somebody collecting 10 apples?
Rep is outdoor content if you make it outdoor content, it’s not an answer.
(Btw right now nobody runs norm/heroic instances they ceased to exist, Tabards at least would give an incentive for actually dead content.)
lol not this 100 rep bullsh@t, i cant quests to give 250 just like old times, 75 rep is insult to us
I stand with you on the challenge part. So long as it is challenging. Cata was not, spamming heroics when you out geared then was not challenging at all. Old school dungeon rep grinds were not challenging once you reached a certain point.
So I’d say sure, rep tabards, but they only work against dungeons measured against your ilevel. So for example if you have 370 gear, you will be doing heroics and mythic for rep, normals wouldn’t grant any. Once you reach 400 ilevel, heroics stop granting rep. Just to make the option completely immeasurable, I’d also stipulate that it continues to upgrade based on mythic+ drops too, so if you want rep at 425 ilevel, yoy have to run mythic 8 or higher. That way the challenge part is maintained, which people seem to refer to as their arguments.
And just to be clear, it’d scan you continuously so if you put on higher gear once in a lower dungeon, your tabard stops working.
You’d still have world quests of course as another way to grind.
I disagree on the second part of your comment. It doesn’t take forever, it’s just boring, but it doesn’t take forever. It took me 2 weeks to net flying and I ignored actively farming rares and all pet battles. I was exalted with both new factions about 2 weeks after that. 1 month for exalted is not a huge grind. I’ll add as well this did not take up all of my available playtime (it would take about 90 minutes to do both zones, sometimes less, with flying this time was halved)
Dungeons are already relevant due to M+, you don’t need to push 420-430 ilvl players into normal and heroics, these are for people who actually need them.
Personally i’m glad they removed/nerfed the daily heroic bonus, even made a suggestion about this in legion.
Agree. Also confused. People want rep via challenge but they want to be able to pubstomp normal dungeons to farm rep. Which is it? I could tank a normal dungeon AFK at my current gear level. It’s not challenging at all.
You either want it to be challenging and so it comes from dungeons that actually test you (see my above post) or you want to be able to rep farm from normal dungeons irrespective, in which case arguing you want a “challenging” method to farm rep is disingenuous. Can’t be both.
And no, normal dugneons are already relevant for players who need them, and same for heroics. Turning them into afk faceroll rep farms doesn’t help anyone. It just creates a different kind of boring rep farm which isn’t challenging and it doesn’t help players genuinely in these difficulties learn to play because you won’t learn much about healing a dungeon in your lowbie gear if your tank never requires healing and can essentially pull the entire dungeon without risk of dying.
