Hello. First of all thanks for doing SoD it was a great and fun experience for the most part!
Adressing the topic.
Me and im pretty sure many other would love to be able to transfer our SoD characters to MoP instead of playing some boosted character.
We collected loot, mounts, toys etc… over the whole of SoD. Seeing all of that lost in a ‘‘endless’’ SoD-Era server that will *probably die out quite fast or will not really get that much attention in the future is kind of lame.
Even if we all knew that it was only seasonal its still invested time and to some people stuff like this is important (playing their ‘‘main’’ character).
For example on Diablo you get to keep your seasonal character on the ‘‘normal’’ game mode after a season has ended. And i think me and many other non-retail players consider MoP the ‘‘normal’’ game by now.
Also the same thing was done to Season of Mastery characters back in wotlk so why not for SoD too.
Would just be a very nice way of actually thanking people for playing it imo

I believe the main problem here is that our characters are at the moment fundamentally incompatible with Classic. Most of our gear does not exist in Classic. BFD, Gnomer, Sunken Temple, Even our raid tiers and Scarlet Enclave Stuff. None of those exist in original files. Everything that didn’t exist in Vanilla would either need to be added which is a large scale task or removed making our characters no better than fresh toons.

This is where everyone is completely wrong. It is more than just compatible. We are literally using the same game client. There was even a moment not long ago when people from SoD and Anniversary ended up on the same battlegrounds due to a mistake, resulting in rank 14 boomkins with early WotLK levels of damage obliterating freshly levelled anniversary toons.
The way it works is, every item that is different from Vanilla is technically a separate item that is only available on SoD realms. All the stuff that we have in SoD is also in Anniversary and Era and vice versa, incliding the updated items, new mounts and runes, there is just no way to obtain it in a fair way.
That being said, it should be very easy to transfer our toons to MoP or TBC Anniversary. All you need to do is to convert all the items to their Vanilla counterparts and wipe all the loot that is SoD-exclusive

At that point they could just provide us with the boost for the character on that realm couldn’t they?
Just wipe SoD into the trash where it belongs.
No, because free character boost does not grant you ashbringer, atiesh, Scarab mounts and other unique stuff I got in SoD

Yeah I wanna keep the character. They can add the items to MoP easily enough surely.
Imo MoP is easily the best version of WoW and it’s not even close.
The earth is flat and is 6,000 years old.
What? I thought we were saying things that are clearly untrue.
Bruh you play a male nelf.

No esence. This gear wouldn’t be added just for balancing reasons, but, for example MoP Classic could very much absorb SoD characters with no harm. This is due that all game versions run under same Retail TWW version of the engine with few adjustments to items and abilities between SoD, Classic Era/Anniversary and Cata/MoP Classic. SoM free transfer to Wrath Classic showed that it is possible they just don’t want to spend money on the procedure.

I can see transfering be a thing.
But they would have to delete all gold, items etc if you transfer not to destroy mops economy.
Also only 1 character per account not to abuse to level super fast in sod to transfer characters to mop easily.
SoM transfer was easy since SoM characters needed zero adjustments. They were effectively Vanilla characters. Here you’ll need to convert every SoD changed item back to its Vanilla counterpart or delete it outright. Geared in T3.5? I can see cases when people have their mounts (then again would Naxx HM Mounts and AQ Bugs from HM count?) or specific legendaries but otherwise… Nah I’d rather keep my character intact I guess.

I mean guys go and sim your SoD character in your full gear without any Runes…i dont think the swap to anniversary TBC would be an issue for SoD characters without any runes since T3.5 gear is stat-wise barely an upgrade to Naxx gear.
Looking back at how Naxx gear was viable into Karazhan/P1 in TBC i dont think SE gear would make it far into TBC either except some trinkets that need to be fixed (thinking about ALL SE trinkets that provide more than just stats, changed AQ40 trinkets fetish, badge mainly). And ofc the removal of the ‘‘spellhaste’’ stats.
Other than that its really just cosmetic stuff and keeping in mind that blizzard sells cosmetic stuff on the shop i dont see how it could really be an issue tbh
But anyway in my opinion MoP would be more realistic but ofc still needs some item Bonuses to get deleted.
- Remove all Tier bonuses from SoD gear
- Remove Trinket proccs/on use effects
And ofc keep looking for niche items that were added so ppl cant break the game but thats it pretty much i think. Its really just cosmetic other than that

They have a 50%xp buff in MoP atm in addition to faster xp in 1-60 and heirlooms and guild xp buffs etc. It isn’t particularly faster in SoD than MoP
Just go ahead and move Sod vanilla to TBC vanilla, nobody here wants to play mop…
Geez and why would I want to get downgraded to a healer if my main spec here is DPS/Tank?
Let me repeat for all clowns. We got an era server. Something no version past vanilla received despite demands. And here we go crying.

Sir its about having options beyond ‘‘your character will stay and rot on this SoD-Era server until we delete them’’. Its not crying. its people wanting to continue playing their SoD-Mains in a different game-version that gets updates.
I think its a valid concern since many people (including myself) pretty much considered SoD their main wow-version. In the end its just hoping for blizzard to see the community’s interest in it and maybe consider doing it.
I wouldnt call it ‘‘crying’’ tho sounds like something a clown would say…

Thank you, Blizzard, by turning the last raid in SoD into a Boost Mechanic for Panda wanabes.
I did a survey with ingame players and about 95% of SoD players will not play MoP only the new players that joined for the boost is going to play MoP.
