True, but also very effective way to teach others to wait. I haven’t been kicked yet, but I do know other tanks, who got unlucky.
My point is, if others don’t help you out, then why should you help them out? True tanks are supposed to keep aggro, but that doesn’t mean clearing dungeons isn’t a team effort, especially infernos. I always went in with attitude of not bothering to take aggro off, if someone ninja pulls etc. it has worked so far.
Then again I am nice, polite and well manered, so don’t know if I’ve never been kicked because majority members vote for no or not.
Being nice and having right attitude and manners get you far, people won’t be so willing to kick you, if you are nice towards them and politely refuse to rush things out ^^
i had the same mentality in retail, you pull it you tank it, i barely tank in cata but since i heal, you are only punishing the healer’s mana pool and cooldowns (which are meant for you), if i can help it i will keep em alive just to not slow the run, ninja pullers will never learn, if you haven’t learned during lvl up you never will
So. I was just doing a dungeon on my priest. I didn’t have drinks and I was slowing the team down. The tank asked me to go out and get drinks, so I did. Then all of a sudden, I got kicked. I guess that was fair enough. I can understand why that happened.
But, does that justify a 30 minute deserter de-buff?
Deserter De-buff is a scam. They are scamming players out of their game time!
I did have drinks, but they were the wrong level. So I was able to get mana, but it was very slow. I made a mistake. Was it a big deal? Do people deserve to be locked out for 30 minutes for that?
Are blizzard scamming us out of game time?
The developers HAVE A FIX for this.
They COULD fix this, all they would have to do is implement the fix that they HAVE.
i wouldn’t even consider it a mistake, in the first 60 levels you can out-level the drink in 1 hour and now there is even an XP buff
it’s not a scam, but if they are “scamming” anyone, it’s their board, all companies do it, it’s about the metrics, session length, playtime, etc, they want you to be online as long as possible, even tho it does not makes sense to me, if the subscriptions are up and they ain’t dropping why would they want to spend more bandwidth and cpu time, but whatever
A moment ago I was in The Vortex Pinnacle, doing the last boss (Asaad)
and somebody died, I think they didn’t know you had to run to the triangle zone to escape getting killed.
Mid fight the vote to kick pop-up appears, reason given for kicking?: “Lol”.
i was at a BRD with an alt, i went to the vendor to buy the drinks to get that dwarf drunk so we can kill Phalanx (it has like a 30 sec RP sequence), the rest of the group was killing the mini boss downstairs (i was already upstairs before they even entered the room downstairs btw), as i was moving back down i got the kick, i was the top dps by far (st or aoe), stuns, interrupts, waiting for tank to pull, off-heals. and i paid for the drinks too…reason: saved them too much time welcome to the ignore list you little tumors
My 2 cents: It’s hard to make a perfect system for this, every player is different and has different mindset. You can fix this by queing dungeons with your friends/guild to play with your own rules.
which is exactly why the blizzard policy “you can kick for whatever reason” is wrong, the vote based system is fine, total anarchy is not
you can apply the same logic to those who initiate the kicks, if you want a minmax group make your own, duh! so far valid reasons according to the community are: playing frost mage, having pvp gear (which is overkill even for infernos)…i don’t like classes who lack interrupts, like sv/bm hunters, i don’t even like classes with long interrupt cds, like mages and priests, have i ever initiated a kick for that reason? even when the party had only 1 interrupt and i had to carry the load as a healer? nope, and this happens way too often
So… I was tanking on my DK, he has around 350 Item score, and I wasn’t sure if I could do Infernals yet because some of my gear is pvp gear.
So I went and queued up for an infernal dungeon just to see if it would go ok.
… It didn’t go ok. The healer was complaining that I was dying as fast as the dps.
It wasn’t going great so I left. I wasn’t going to pull a magic trick out of my hat and somehow be a better tank with will power, the only decent thing to do was to allow the group to find another tank.
So then, why do I now have to wait 30 minutes?
Why can’t I now just go queue up for a heroic dungeon, which I know I can do. ?
The current system is busted. I’ve been playing with my friend on protocol inferno dungeons and she keeps getting kicked for low dps (its not even that low tbh) even though we are progressing normally. I vote no when they try to kick her but they just call a new vote and she gets booted even if I vote no. At that point I just leave myself. It really sucks because those dungeons are the only way to get better gear and improve dps
What about just making a vote-to kick on 30 minutes cooldown? Every player is able to vote kick once every 30 minutes. Also, just remove deserter. People get the “internal cooldown” to join a dungeon anyways, if they leave “too soon”.
Then you’re most likely doing something wrong. Even with low ilvl and scuffed gear, you can still do good in infernos.
I started tanking infernos with my dk at exactly 346 ilvl with a mix of entry level pve gear, some epic boe from main and a few pvp pieces. Still performed better than on my 370-ish ilvl feral druid tank, both in terms of damage and self sustain.
I’m no expert at blood dk at all, it’s just one of my many alts I play for fun and don’t tryhard with. But two crucial things I see many inexperienced blood dk tanks do is overusing heart strike at the expense of death strikes. Death strike is insanely overpowered if used correctly, it does heavy damage, healing and gives you blood shields for absorbs. Use death strikes after taking damage, especially big hits. And don’t be afraid to chain cooldowns when you feel it’s needed, blood dk’s have plenty. Also, don’t forget about bone shield. It has short cooldown, 1 minute, and should be up whenever it’s ready. Glyphed it also gives you 15% movement increase when it’s up.
Another big thing I see other blood dk’s do is not utilizing your runic power enough. It pains me to see when blood dk’s are not pressing rune strike and sit at max runic power for the entire fight.
I have also seen a few dk’s with horrible disease uptime. So make sure you always apply diseases and spread them around with pestilence. Outbreak is only on a 30 second cooldown, so you should aim to have 100% uptime on diseases at all times.
For further information on how to play blood dk, I would recommend watching a guide on Riyani’s youtube channel. It has good general information, and comes from someone that knows what he’s talking about. Reading Wowheads general blood dk guide and somewhat understanding the information is also a good idea.
For dungeons, another small thing I came up with on my own that works well for me (no research, no theorycrafting etc involved) is to always pool runic power before a bossfight. I always try to have atleast 60 runic power pooled for a fast initial dancing rune weapon for double diseases and double hits. If you for some reason dip below 60 runic power before engaging the boss, you can get it up again by casting horn of winter and/or bone shield.
If your friend is frequently being kicked for low dps, why can’t she improve it? I mean, she could take the 30 minute downtime from the deserter debuff and watch a youtube guide, read a rotation guide and practice rotations at a target dummy. I honestly don’t see THAT many kicks going out for low dps, and if they do it’s usually something ridiculous like someone doing 5k overall dps in infernos. In my experience, you don’t have to be an elite player in any shape or form to avoid getting kicked, just knowing the basics like standard rotations, what stats you should go for etc will be enough. Tbh, most kicks I see go through are for totally nonsense reasons like people being mad at each other, or simply no reason at all.
Edit: Gear is certainly not the only way to improve your dps. Understanding your class, what you’re supposed to do and not do is far more important. Even with full heroic raid gear, your dps is not gonna be good if you don’t know the basics.
it’s maybe the most common reason in my experience, i have denied kick for 13k dps, which was bad but not bad enough to cause a wipe (which is the only decent reason to kick a dps in my opinion)
Kinda depends on the class, aswell. Some classes and/or specs come online way later than others, and some can pump in questing greens. Something to keep in mind when talking numbers only.
But yeah, I would not press yes on votekick for someone doing 13k overall dps in infernos, either.
