Yep same here, Got my refunds and they were helpful enough to move my game time.
Policy change sucks but what to do, the numpties ruined it for us that just dual/multiboxed for the challenge and fun of it

Question 1:
Following the recent policy change to software key broadcasting, can we still use Multi-Boxing software such as HotKeyNet and ISBoxer to manage and switch WoW client windows and just disable the key broadcast elements?
Question 2:
Are we able to use software such as ISBoxer and HotKeyNet to direct keys to WoW clients 1 at a time? instead of 2,3,4,5,8 at a time?
Question 3:
Will the use of software like HotKeyNet and ISBoxer now get picked up by the Warden and trigger an “actionable offence”?
Question 4:
Additionally, what is the plan regarding the impending increase in the number of reports for those of us Multi-Boxers who will inevitably get incorrectly reported even more than before. Regardless of following the change in ToS as stated and not key broadcasting to multiple accounts at once?
At least there appears to be a person behind the keyboard, unlike the 20+ druids I stumbled across in Gorgrond last night. They all seemed to be much more… robotic, in their movements.
They cause so much lag! Or at least that’s what everyone keeps telling me.
I mean, he is talking about bots.
Bots cannot be without being banned, broadcasting software or not.
It won’t change anything. People who are using bots will keep botting.
Yes that’s bot, and guess what I’ll bet he is gently laughing at all of this. This guy is botting with 150 accounts on 15 differents layers for at least 4 weeks now, making about 400,000g per character every day.
Yet he is still freely botting out of everyone control. He printed billions of golds in a couple of weeks, probably twice more than what all multiboxer united would have done in months.
And guess what, this change have no impact on this guy. Worst, it will increase the amount of “this guy” you’ll see.
If they are using input broadcasting software… or any similar type and they are caught, they’ll get banned too.
It depends on how good Blizz’s detection systems are.
This is very welcome if it works and about time Blizz took a stance against something ratheer than it seemingly being ignored as multiple accounts equated to more profits. The obvious expense of that would be players leaving due to it continuing to be allowed.
I do think we have Classic to thank for this. In Vanilla it was rare to see a multiboxer but with Classic they were everywhere and clearly more impactful given the economies and reliance on gold.
Markets will rectify themselves. With more individuals able to farm mats there ultimately will be a broader spread of sales and prices rather than a small number of ‘professional’ farmers controlling those markets.
We still have a bot problem of course, both in classic and retail, but one drama at a time
Question 1: Maybe, depends how these software are architected if they still emulate the input when the option is disabled then you wouldn’t be able to used them; otherwise yes.
Question 2: My guess is you wouldn’t be able to use it the way you describe.
Question 3: It probably will and now that this policy is in place they will probably start calling GetCurrentInputMessageSource on Windows 8+ and GetMessageExtraInfo on Windows 7 and below (if they haven’t already) to find how the input was originated.
Question 4: My guess is you will get reported more and therefor they will have more false positives, the question is how smart/forgiven their system is.
I wrote above that VMs should be fine as long as they have physical device attached per VM but it would be pretty nice to get an official answer to this.
this whole topic is getting confusing. Quite literally… people are questioning whats legit and what isnt. The whole point of the announcement was to stop exploits, but either way, whether its in game and not broadcasting, its an exploit… I just don’t get why it isn’t applied to people in game who doesn’t broadcast.
I received warnings of blizzard for having IS boxer still running without using it at all … no broadcasting … no use of the fx neither … I just used it to load up my 2 accounts I still have on 2 different screens … I closed my 3 other accounts and asked for refunds for SL. So IS boxer gets detected even without using any of its functions. So if you would have IS boxer running on your PC for other games it might still be being detected by blizz in worst case … very infasive I would say.
I resubbed when i heard this. Apart from wanting to play SL.
I have no sympathy for you and your flocks of herb stealing druids. I put up with enough of your crap for years so you wont see me crying. I subbed for 6 months thanking the old gods they got rid of you, hopefully.
Getting less than 50 zin per hour at any time of the day is BS. Good riddence. I wont shed a tear. Not one single one. I will bath in your salt.
and that is why i posted with my druid … just to see the reaction …
I did multibox idd … doing my dailies … doing old content to transmogh farm and mount farm … if there is something f-ing boring it is herbing mining … you have the AH for that to buy that stuff … but hey now I run 2 accounts on 2 screens … one doing pet battles the other idd mining herbing … no longer getting money from selling old content gear so well I have to gather my own stuff for own use … hey maybe even gonne sell on AH now … got Tradeskill master working now so well nice undercutting inc … oh wait it was the multiboxers screwing the economy not AH addons … how stupid of me
As I suspected, Warden is picking it up as a cheat program now, Just like botting apps etc. Probably best to clear it all off your system.
I get what you’re saying for the most part, and something had to be done - but I bet VERY few players quit the game because multi-boxers were their only reason.
I have played WoW since day 1 and everyone that left the game simply got bored of it, usually got lots of reasons combined (other games they wanted to play / endgame got cleared / the grind got them down / RL commitment). I have never over 100’s of friends that left heard one say I am leaving because too many multi-boxers.
WoW is still going to have bots, MEGGABOXERS still have their millions/billions of gold in the game.
The change will get rid of a whole bunch of decent multi-boxers and some bots too. The botter’s use throwaway accounts and wont care, they will sign up more, make gold and sell it until they are banned again, rinse and repeat.
The decent people that were multi-boxing will quit the game/move to private or go down to one account.
They should have made a dedicated server where legitimate multi-boxers could move to (and ban it from the mainstream servers).
Classic was brought back because of demand, there is a demand for multi-boxing so let them play on their own server, all the multi-boxers I know do it for the challenge, not to ruin the game. It was ruined by gold sellers and a few idiot multi-boxers.
Interesting idea on there being dedicated servers for them but that probably would hold little appeal when they aren’t able to use it as a means of gain over others (not that all do it for that reason). Part of the problem are the tokens as that puts a demonstrable real life financial value on to gold farming multiboxers activities.
It has far more negative impact in Classic than Retail and certainly I’ve found it much more noticable there. I largely parked in Classic for the past year and was never more irritated by multiboxers there than at any other time in all the years I’ve played. The only time multiple accounts seemed of use was when being whispered not to kill someone on a pvp realm as they were logging over to kill a bot. That said, levelling an alt again in Retail it’s as much a pain when you have a flock of druids nuking every quest mob you need in an area.
I agree with you in respect of the bots but I figure dealing to some degree with one problem is more welcome than dealing with neither lol.
This wouldn’t change anything, just lower their profits a little for having to pay transferring a character to another realm(and maybe back)
To Kardiac and Shumensko,
It would 100% not appeal to multi-boxers that want to mess around with the auction house, but so many multi-boxers just enjoy the challenge of clearing content “solo”, or playing solo.
I know its a MMORPG, that means playing with others but I feel they should at least try one dedicated retail/classic server MB server as an option.
