Potion cooldown not authentic with classic wow

SOLVED

_Darn, you a correct! This is from Client Patch 1.11.0. _
_I started playing wow 1 year after release. This patch comes almost 2 years after release. sob

Thanks.

Hi

When playing wow in the earlier days it was possible to consume several different types of potions right after another. For example: First an Invisibility potion, when it’s effect stopped you could immediately consume a Free Action potion. But now I see that these potions share the same global cooldown. This global cooldown on potions is in my opinion NOT authentic with the classic gameplay. The reason I remember this is, because it was my favourite thing to do during PvP capture the flag. It allowed creativity. And having the global cooldown removed, was one of the main reasons for starting to play wow classic.

Can someone verify that the global cooldown is NOT authentic for wow classic?

Rgds,

Maybe instead of posting of what you remember move your fingers and do quick google search before posting, would save allot of time and unneeded discussions.

Yes, in vanilla potions didnt trigger GCD; that is why they existed in macros.

I even think it took all the way till WotLK for GCD to be put on potions.

However, it was part of classic to make certain potions share a cooldown. I really dont remember this part too well, but I think you could have 1 offensive and 1 defensive potion within the 2 min. timeframe.

What do you mean? Was it suggested the classic was supposed to have GCD in the new release? Or should I just report it as a “bug”?

They are supposed to share a cooldown. This was imlemented in a patch very long ago.
Because WoW classic uses the 1.12 patch, it is part of the plan that you can not stack potions.

HOWEVER potions trggering a GCD (you can not use any abilities for 1,5s) was never the case in vanilla WoW, and that is a bug or at least deviation from the original game.

Did quick search. Nothing found. All help is appreciated.

We have re-evaluated the mechanics of consumable items in the game and concluded that these should work in a more intuitive manner. As such, most items that can not be equipped with right click abilities have been streamlined into one of three categories. Using an item of a particular category will trigger a shared cooldown among all other items in the same category. The categories break down as follows with category cooldowns as listed.

Potions 2 minutes: This includes items such as Health Potion, Mana Potion, Invisibility Potion and Mighty Rage Potion.
Aggressive 1 minute: This includes items such as explosives, Really Sticky Glue and Discombobulator Ray.
Non-Aggressive 2 minutes: This includes items such as Healthstone, Night Dragon’s Breath, Whipper Root Tuber and Target Dummy.
