I cannot wait to leave it soon as well. So effin sick of these devs and this company.
And let me make this clear. This started with Legion. Some people like to say Legion was good, cause they sacrificed WoD to make them, but it wasn’t. The lore was good. But, the gameplay and systems started being broken there. Legion was ground zero. Stop telling them it was good cause that is what they have been trying to replicate with BfA and SL.
Go back to Wrath design. Reset this dumb thing.
Played a rogue for several years. Never heard about Roguecraft until a few weeks ago. Believe that or not, but many people who play this game don’t interact with “content creators” at all. That’s mostly an online community thing.
Also, you’re not disproving the point, actually. The game has always had problems even going back to Classic. Some were addressed, and some just weren’t. Was the story in TBC good? Were classes ever fully “balanced”? Were there idiotic mechanics that kept you logged in? Daily chores existed long before SL and BfA were a thing.
Sure, all of those existed. But there were also tons of good things about the game. What happened in the past few years is that talking about good things has become increasingly hard without people jumping in and immediately steering the conversation to what isn’t working. And when we’re talking about what isn’t working, a lot of the time it’s these content creator points repeated that were never in any form widespread to begin with. If I had a penny for every time someone said “titanforging is a big problem because people get BiS geared chars!”…
I still find it hard to stomach that devs thought Shards of domination were essentially tier sets and they didn’t understand why players complaining about it.
Doesn’t blizz even know what a tier set is anymore ? it’s about class flavour a set designed specifically for their class they love … absolute joke.
I hear it has a pretty solid free to play experience up to level 60?
My issue is whenever I see footage of FF14 it’s either raid bosses that all look the same or RP situations. I don’t know what kind of solo world / dungeon content it offers. I think that’s because it’s not that great.
What is more puzzling is even if they thought shards were essentially tier sets (which they’re not) why on earth would they not just give us tier sets…
In their own words they attempted to reinvent the wheel.
I knew mythic raiders who would swap class just because how a tier set looked.
I’ve done it myself , if they reveal sets and that Lock set is looking damn sweet , I have re-rolled to lock just to obtain it.
I don’t think they get that.
Player plays Warrior , player wants stuff only warrs can use and wear for flavour and to fill unique. It’s not hard to comprehend. Warr players doesn’t want to look like DK and Pala.
He’s done it quickly, cleanly, without being dramatic but making it clear he doesn’t agree with the direction of the game. He has not dragged it out for 6 months, with clickbait titles and uncomfortably saying the odd swear word in a way to attempt to look - at what only a ten year old would consider - cool.
You notice that Bellular? Wasn’t hard was it.
I coincidentally cancelled my sub last week, only because I’m bored and there’s too much work to be done to have any fun, looks like I was ahead of the curve. Maybe the streamers like Preach and Asmon moving will be enough to get a change of direction in the game that will improve it, hopefully we will all be back in azeorth soon.
If i never come back i’d like to say two things
1 - Thanks blizz and the random players over the years for making this game what it was, and it was special.
2 - Well done Blizz, you had a special game and somehow made it so convoluted that i am not even confident you know the direction the game is meant to be heading now.
After thought - Do a few fresh classic servers, even if they are going to progress to TBC in a year or so, might be enough to save you some subs.
That’s another thing. Many people assume Mythic raiders are so very different and elite and stuff and that we optimise for class and absolutely everything else and never pay any heed to the way our character looks and feels subjectively for us.
And that just isn’t true. It’s never been true. It’s not even true for Echo, though it is more true than most everybody else. We do care about the sense of identity and community within WoW A LOT and we do consider it more important than being absolute #1 at all times.
But they couldn’t deliver that. I just feel like my character’s personality just makes absolutely no difference to what’s happening around me. I am constantly being forced to make stupid choices that she would NEVER EVER make to advance the story and that’s very frustrating and I never meet anybody I know outside of Oribos (which works like realms used to in vanilla… so yeah).
Another thing I was really happy with about Classic is seeing some of the old content creators make a new PvP video. Grimm making a new one was a surprise, and I was happy Tosan made 2 as well. I don’t really like watching streams and not having videos like that coming out much still sucks.
With a shrinking player base, these guys know that fairly soon they will be making video’s only for the whales and hopelessly addicted.
Both Preach and Madseason were completely correct. Blizzard just don’t care anymore, the content is lacklustre and its main aim is to milk extra cash out of its players. People try to defend it isn’t pay to win but there is virtually nothing you cannot buy with your credit card.
There are masses of dead servers with nothing being done about them and on those servers are players who are stranded with no one to play with, the only solution being the credit card once again.
I know that there is some community left, but is a tiny fraction of the community we had and when all is said and done, it was the community that most of us played for and once that is gone in your own reality, then its time to move on.
At this point I see no bright future for the game when it’s own community, and even the BIG streamers are leaving .
However, at the same time I can’t leave wow. While FF14 is fun in terms of transmogs and gameplay and stuff, wow in my opinion has better races and better Roleplay. It’s the Roleplay part that’s keeping me playing, it’s the friends that I’ve made.
It is a good watch, think of him what you will be the emotion he shows here is upsetting to see. Another player who loved the game so disillusioned that they are walking away.
It is hard to disagree with anything he says in the video, this should be played on big screens to the devs on repeat.
Regarding Preach I don’t really understand how this is true… his entire YT channel is demonetized and he doesn’t stream any WoW content. The only way this would turn out true is if there is some mass unsubscription from his website.
TBH I unsubbed a few weeks ago, this recent lawsuit has pretty much killed any interest in resubscribing to the game. Blizzard get your sh*t together.
Yes and no. Audience isn’t directly for the game but for the person or channel persona.
Disguised Toast was a Hearthstone streamer and content creation, like huge getting big big money from Twitch. His persona was created in that game (a meme of one of cards) and he was related to only that game. Then he branched out successfully (not sure reasons but from what I’ve read it wasn’t nice related to HS).
Asmongold persona is WoW but he did tried other games some time ago as a sort of an experiment. And viewers liked it, especially when he died in Darksouls etc. Now he streams mostly FF to which he is completely new and has more and more viewers.
Esfand TV is also related to WoW while he went FF14 and created unique stream with green screen and a character that is dressed like him + actually voice acting the game as he plays. His viewers did not quit due to that.
Some can have harder times branching out, those that rely not on persona but on raw content, like boss guides. WoW raid boss guides channel is only that.
