Premades are even worse than before

Time’s changed

Premades are awful for the longevity of the game.

A reason why I stopped PvPing until this expansion (Solo Shuffle is the sole reason I’m getting back into it) is because of the sheer disconnect between premade groups and pugs. Also because WoW’s PvP community is a toxic and elitist ivory tower of no-life PvPers stroking each others egos and excluding anybody from their club if they don’t already have 2200 gladiator.

Battleground premades made sense back in Vanilla when farming Honor was the name of the game. We now live in an era where players demand solo queue content and will not get a fair experience if they’re being pitted against premade groups that have the teamwork and comradery that pugs lack.

It’s especially bad when you enter a BG and start seeing Cyrillic name plates on the opposing side, because you know it’s going to be a one-sided turkey shoot. Russian groups are almost always premades and almost always lead to us victims being corpse camped for 20 minutes while they intentionally stall the match at 2-0 for as long as possible.

That isn’t a jab at the game’s Russian player base, btw. If anything I wish the European player base had the same level of teamwork and comradery as the Russian community does.

So I don’t really use the forums much. Here while the servers are down tbh. But, I find this topic very interesting.
I can see both sides of this argument. Joining a group of friends to play BG’s together is an awesome experience. I think from others comments here (correct me if I’m wrong), the problem is when the group is somehow like 10 - 20 guildies who have somehow managed to get in together. It is a bit odd when this happens.
I play mainly with rando’s… I understand the frustration of facing the dreaded pre-made. But, it does make me try and get everyone fighting as a team. This, in turn also makes it a genuinely great experience when we beat a premade.
For me the only unfair part of this is when it’s a massive team of guildies who somehow get in together. But I rarely see this tbf.
I have on very rare occasions had the opposing team be a full group of the same guild, with members of my own team in the same guild and playing for the our faction instead of theirs - said players then messing around in the bg to disrupt it even more. But that has been very rare over the years. For those groups, there is a very special place in The Maw!
I love playing with friends (steady :stuck_out_tongue: )… but if the whole opposing team of 20 are all on coms and know each other it is a massive advantage.

Like I said, I don’t see this too much and I’m far from an expert on how these things happen.

true story

Fun fact some people actually pay real money to beat people in random battleground

the question is why are they still at it again?

I only do EBGs and no longer random bgs because of premades. 5man teams are enough to make randos completelyunbalanced. It’s been the case for years.

Wait for true random bg queue (solo queue bg)

Disgusting. The “play with ma friends” drones got exposed.
It’s time for a change. Power to the people.

There’s just so much concrete evidence out there of huge teams of people, complete strangers to one another, making massive premade raids for epic BG’s and 5-mans (sometimes 10-mans if they can time the queue properly) and they just want to farm. I’ve seen it myself people paying REAL MONEY to farm honor in random BG’s.

I have evidence, many of us have lots of evidence to prove this.

So the real question is, what’s in it for Blizz that they allow this to happen still to this day?

What is actually in it for them? How to Blizz benefit from allowing this kind of degenerate behaviour?

Those communities exist, yes. You can find them in the community finder.

Blizzard doesn’t benefit from it, they just do not care about PvP as much and do not have the resources to counter these groups, or rather do not want to spend the resources that would be required.

These groups exist on Horde too…if you find your Epic BGs unplayable as a PUG (which I don’t think they are), then just join one.

well this isn’t a sides thing. The fact that it happens is bad. Nobody should be able to do this and Blizzard as a tiny indie startup company turning over multiples of dollars should be able to prevent it.

So the fact is then, they do not want to stop this absolutely degenerate, disgusting, repulsive and anti-community, anti-mmorpg, anti-sportsmanship behaviour.

I think they just do not care about Epic BGs enough to concern themselves with it. I like Epic BGs a lot, but for Blizzard it is more important to divert resources to other things (m+ for example) than to police whether people are circumventing the “max 5 players team can join” mechanics.

It’s not just epic BG’s ofc.

And there’s no telling what the Blizz devs actually think so it’s pointless trying to convey what they think.

The fact is players are exploiting PvP very hard and it’s pissing everyone off, there’s truck loads of evidence for it, but they do nothing to prevent it. We all know how it’s done. It’s such common knowledge and instead of being stressed from an intense BG that you can count on was fair, and had fun. We’re stressed and angry at the fact we know the majority of these are coordinated teams exploiting random players.

Think of it like this, who’s going to be in the most BG’s most of the time? Groups of people who all click the join button together, as premade groups of 5? Or single, solo player randoms who press the button whenever and at no specific time?

This is why solo players face most of the time, teams of premades. And the thing about people who do premades, is that they’re also the kinds of people who will reroll an entire character just because it’s FOTM.

The kinds of people who will faction swap because the racial is FOTM.

The kinds of people who will pay real money to an organiser over patreon, coordinated through discord to exploit solo players for their enjoyment and grind.

It’s just so appalling there are no words for it. Despite everything happening in the world, games, especially WoW should be a place to escape to and not have to face the same exploitations. These people can easily be handled!

Ofcourse. It is just speculation, but I was reacting to your “what is in it for Blizzard” concern with what I viewed as a more logical explanation.

You want logic? Man, I bet there’s an entire conspiracy as to why they don’t.

No actually this is a random BG I want to pic up and put down with the time I have not spend half the night waiting to arrange some sort of joint venture and being messed about by 20 other people.

Any other game… you join and face a random bunch of people.

If you want to get a group? More power to you, wont mind only facing ONLY other groups will you? Ohh wait, incoming weak excuse why you should face roll random.

Random BG means RANDOM MAP, not random players!

Not exactly, rated bg is also a random map. The difference is full premade vs zero/limited number of players grouped together and obviously ranking, mmr system and some other limitations like e.g. not being able to use gliders in rated. Also, the number of players differs, EoTS comes to mind.

There is “Specific BG” and “Random BG”

“Random BG” was created in Woltk. Specific BG was the same thing, but you had to select the map.

Both allow random people and premades since the start.

“Rated BG” was created in Cataclysm and as it’s name says, is Rated PvP, like arenas.

Inform yourself a little, Random Bg has never referred to “Random Team”, since in Specific you also played with random people and at the same time allowed you to join in premade.

Afaik every pvp friend simply refers to bgs as randoms and rated. Yes, there’s the specific option just like in dungeons, but I’d say it’s rarely used, blacklisting was a great feature though.

You could say it’s random map unrated solo/5 man max premade bgs vs random map rated full premade bgs if you wanted to have super long specific names :joy:

But yes, I trust you on the origins, I’ve played since Wrath more or less but I’m not that devoted to remember details about the game’s past.
