Premature thoughts on DK Velfs RPing as DK Quel'dorei?

With the announcement that allied races will be able to become DKs in an upcoming patch, I think it’s now been confirmed that Velfs will be able to roll a DK.

What’re your thoughts on Velf DKs in general, and how do you feel about Velf rpers roleplaying as Quel’dorei DKs?

I think they’re fine. A little weird. I wouldn’t have added them myself, but it’s not egregious.

Gross. Like all HElves.

While I still think Velves are one of the biggest a-pulls around; they’re around anyways might aswell accept them.

As for Velf DK’s RPing Helf DK’s… I don’t see why not, Blood Elf DKs do it, might aswell accept Velf DK’s doing it, since they’re gonna do it anyways

Velf are technically helves as well, so I mean… yeah?

never saw the charm for RPing a race/class as something they’re not tbh

also don’t see what you gain from RPing a helf DK instead of a velf DK. Velf DKs have more established history while helves have just been on a quiet backburner since… TBC? Warcraft 3?

I don’t like them personally and find them weird.

I don’t mind, personally i think it makes more sense than Velf DKs. Though that’s just me.

It would make sense due to dar’khan’s research however them being part of the alliance or void elf faction would not and theyd be strictly scourge or ebon.

How does this relate to Quel’dorei DKs?

He is the man behind the void elves atleast his research is.
So that brings me to the latter part of what i said, wouldn’t make sense unless… said quel’dorei dk is part of the ebon or scourge.

I’m thinking you misunderstand the OP’s question, which is about using a Velf DK OOC to represent a High Elf DK IC. That means there’s no relation to Dar’khan Drathir’s research or the Void Elves.

Oh woops my bad,

in that case
Well then it shouldn’t be much of a problem assuming that said Death Knight is part of the Ebon blade or scourge.

They’d be part of the generation of 3rd war death knights (since those never really became sin’dorei)

Honestly I don’t see the allure in RPing any DK myself. I don’t need examples or any sort of explanation, I just really don’t get it. Other people do, seemingly, so power to them.

I’m with @Kump here, I’ll forever be weirded out by Velf DKs, and I don’t really care too much for quel’dorei, they’re just sort of there. /shrug

I’m in agreement there. It seems to me more likely that a Quel’dorei DK would stick with the Ebon Blade (if they’re not Scourge) or go to the Horde, than that they’d join the Alliance. The vast majority of their people are now the Blood Elves, after all.

The OP asked two questions, though. One of them is on the general thoughts on velf dks and the other is about using them to represent quel’dorei.

I think from my reasoning, you can follow that I find it strange to use a Velf for Quel’dorei DK. Blood Elf DKs are more fitting for that by far. As far as Velf DK goes? Nothing special, really. It can be done well or done badly, but I’ve yet to see which is most prevalent.

Not sure and to be fair, i think most quel’dorei returned to quel’thalas over the time between it reclaimed and now… wouldn’t be odd if they’d recall all elves to help and rebuild their lands.

Quel’dorei weren’t exactly numerous in human cities either, using DK models is just the (no dk ic) thing for that matter.

But take that with a grain of salt.

A Death Knight being morally/politically against eating magic from creatures seems very odd.

Then again the HElf-BElf split was always kinda dumb. Dumb vegan elves who still eat meat.

I guess the only reason to use a velf to RP a quel’dorei dk would be to do neutral Ebon RP when you want the OOC character to be Alliance instead of a blood elf for whatever reason. It might be an Alliance-only mog that you fancy/an Alliance community you raid with/arena partner/anything else of the sort. I see no other reason, to be fair.

I can agree that for making a neutral Ebon, it’s a valid enough reason. I’m already expecting most of the (Velf) Quel’dorei DK crowd to be Alliance supporters IC too, though, which rubs me the wrong way.

Tbf I wish they’d just be done with the High Elves in general, just throw them all in the Horde alongside the Belves. Sadly we’re stuck with Velves now :frowning:
