I used to re-roll and learn new classes I haven’t played before, just to get those elite pvp sets, I played a mage in bfa season 1 and when I got to 1800 rating, I earned a very bland set that all cloth users can use, no interesting effects that make it unique or special to my mage, just some dull coloured robes with a hood.
The plate version from bfa season 1 wasn’t horrible, but again, nothing warrior specific, a very generic set, and I can’t explain how horrendous the bfa season 2 pvp transmog sets are, (picture a warlock in the bfa s2 elite gear cmon…)
I understand that elite pvp sets from previous pvp seasons are trophies for players, they rightfully earned them at the time, but if I could earn the same rating required to buy those sets back in those seasons (2k or 2.2k), I should to be able to purchase one, even if it was only 1 set per season of my choice (after I earned the rating).
Similarly the mop challenge mode sets, I feel as if these should be earn able through some sort of challenge, people earned these sets yeah, but cmon most people just bought a challenge mode gold boost for 80k gold for the set of their choice.
I understand these sets are trophies for players that got them while it was current content, but even if they got something extra on the side for earning it back then, a title or pet or something, because the sets are absolutely gorgeous, and I’m NOT saying every tom, dick and harry should get these sets, I’m saying it should be EARNED.
Not all BFA transmog sets are bad, that’s not my point, it’s just severely lacking in the class identity department, it takes the “roleplay” out of MMORPG.
