This is my take on it as well. I don’t want for old rewards to be wellfare cosmetics, but I warmly welcome the option for them to be earned again.

It must be a better solution with getting old Elite PvP set by buying 12 mark of honor but without reaching 1.8 rating
The issue with FOMO sets that are 1) locked behind skill AND 2) locked behind time sensitivity will only result in
- People who have the skill, but didn’t play at the time feeling bad
- People who don’t currently have the skill when it the set IS available will be buying boosts to get the set before it goes away.
It’s the same you see with AOTC boosts. There’s 0 extrinsic prestige in having AOTC nowadays because it can be bought. The only prestige comes from you knowing that you earned it. The same goes for 1.8k. By removing the time-sensitive aspect of Elite sets, you will most likely decrease the amount of Glad-boosts, since more people will simply grind it out or get the skill/gear necessary to earn it on their own since they are not in a rush anymore.
I don’t really think they outweighs the positives of just rewarding players for their commitments. There are many other positives I have outlined across multiple threads.
But what I say to the players who don’t have the skill, is just to get the skill. Focus on your goal and work towards it. none of these items are hidden behind a particularly difficult to attain achievement, if you really focus and work towards it.
And once you have done it once, you’ll be able to do it as many times as you want.
It’s not hard, just try.
