I admit, this is really painful.

I am using a leveling guide to quest in Classic and the guide is telling me to kill Yetis for a Pristine Yeti Hide in Feralas. I’m killing them in the image shown here. (the small circle)

And I want to ask people that KNOW Vanilla and are experienced with it…
Is drop rate really low? Am I even in the right place? Do I need to pick up a quest beforehand?
Just help me out here as I’ve been in the same location for ages killing these annoying Yetis with no Hide in sight yet.

Drop rates low its actually 1.12%

When in doubt wowhead is the best place to check for quest info quite honestly.

Isn’t that the same as the yeti hide quest in hillsbrad for horde? Like 2 full levels grinding one quest item that never drops, and then someone in /1 goes… got it on my second kill ez-clap

Yeah its basically a case of when it drops sadly. One of the more frustrating aspects of vanilla questing for sure.

Wait till you’re trying to find basilisks with brains…

Yes.

Either keep trying, or accept that guides may have inaccuracies or even suggest something inefficient (rereading this gives me shivers) and do something else.

Managed to get it.
Sods law, I grouped up with someone and it dropped on second kill!

I’m getting so many of these, I think it’s broken anyway, the quest only gives you 440xp instead of 5000 or something on all my alts so far.

Dunno for me was like 20 min, drop rate was high

Drop rate is low. But if you have skinning, you can loot it and get it from the “skinning loot”. Double up!

Honestly, the majority of your levelling experience is gained through grinding anyway. No harm in killing a few hundred extra yeti’s.

Just wait until you need the pristine yeti horns in winterspring.
