Why did Blizzard have to make professions too hard to understand?
I can understand wanting to make them relevant and can accept specialising in something but its way to complex to get my head round.
Going to a guide to understand where to put knowledge points for a PROFESSION is utterly stupid.
What was wrong with the old style?

I like the system for gathering professions.
But for crafting I do not. It’s too convoluted imo.
It’s a lot easier to hit max level with crafting though in TWW.
I’ve done the 5 profession to max achievement (it has a transmog set as a reward). And honestly it wasn’t hard. Took me just a few days.

I dislike knowledge points, three ranks of mats and five ranks of outcomes. Maxing a profession is meaningless. Currently not loving concentration either.

Well, I got a transmog set out of it.
But yes; I’ll likely won’t do anything else with it. Except for gathering and making gold.

For me I think it’s nice with complex professions but starting off with Khaz Algar crafting the game teaches nothing about how any of it works, and expects me to invest points I cannot refund into talent trees I do not understand.
It really should come with a manual.

I personally think it’s great, it rewards people who do research, go deep in it and commit to it.

Having to resort to checking external websites to make sure your levelling prof is correct isnt research.

Thats why I dont mess with professions.
I just farm gold and buy whatever I want from the professions in AH.

I kind of like the fact that professions are harder now instead of brainless grinding. It gives more immersion and those really good at their profession are hard to find.
I would however lower the bar to start crafting, kind of like the old system but with fewer steps. First few levels you can easily make leveling gear and get the feel of the profession and the better you get the harder it comes to be even better. Just like in real life

I do not understand the new professions, I have no time for research, and at the same time I do not want to pick something at random and fail, so I ignore them altogether.

I hate this tendency of strawmanning online.
First, I did not say that.
Second, it still is research by definition, because you’re looking for information and ended up in a website talking about it.
Third, these websites do nothing beyond very basic stuff. You don’t need to be a genius to understand the foundations. You want to craft X at the highest level ? Just read what the specialization trees do and invest into nodes that give you skill towards what you want to do.
Fourth, instead of trying to bounce back on the conversation, you picked up the part of my sentence that you didn’t like and sidetracked towards the definition of research.
Please stay on topic and be constructive.

Right so you expect me to come home from my 1st job and log into my 2nd job?

I also have a job, and that wasn’t hard for me to understand.
Look, is it so hard to just go on Youtube and watch a video about it? Just look for the guide by Signsofkelani for example. You invest 20 to 30 minutes into it and then you’re done, you understand how it works.
Yep the profession system is stupid. You have to read a guide on every professions, and if you dare spend a point wrong u cant reset it or get it back. And dont get me started on 3 ranks of every reagents, that is insanely stupid

To understand proffs? LOL
No
I’d rather not

Not hard, no.
But that’s not the point.
It shouldn’t be necessary to do that in the first place.
The game should explain it to you as you play.

The only reason this stuff exists is because they had to find more ways to time gate stuff so that you stay subbed for longer. Blizz has become an absolute genius at drip feeding “progress” and KP / concentration are very good examples of that.

Profs need to go back to the way they were before. None of this knowledge point nonsense.

On the whole I don’t dislike the system, but there are some things I have mixed feelings about: -
-
Complexity: I understand it, but having skill, finesse, deftness, perception and ingenuity, seems a bit over the top to me. Some people struggle with it though, and there could be a lot more info in the tool tips, etc.
-
Ranks: I despise having my bags and bank full of 3 versions of essentially the same crafting material. They could be different and still stack in some way.
-
Knowledge points: adds a bit of interest for me, but they seem too hard to accumulate, due to points 5 and 6.
-
Bind on Pickup: Hate this with a passion due to points 5 and 6.
-
Crafting orders: Non-existent if you’re not in a sizeable guild or a busy server. Desperately needs a fix (for those in the same situation that don’t want to waste millions of gold).
-
Patreon orders: Epic fail. They don’t even come close to simulating player orders, because they lack so many required materials.
As I said, I like the system in principle, and find it more interesting than pre-DF crafting, but personally (no big guild, quiet server) I find it utterly botched by the BoP items in conjunction with the useless patreon orders. Yes, I could join a big guild, and yes I could pay real world money to move servers, but I shouldn’t need to when Blizz recognised the problem and tried [and failed] to implement a solution.

I know you mentioned guides but I find this one pretty straightforward.
